Planned it for my 6th Anniversary. Disappointing!

Posted 03-Nov-2017
Pros: The staff was sincerely friendly and courteous. They assisted with our request for towels etc.
Cons: Be more flexible with the meal times. At least have the Kitchen open for late arrivals. Paint the property and spruce it up a little.
We took the All Inclusive plan which was a little costly. The times are set for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner and there is no room service so if you miss your meal time there is nothing you can buy. Breakfast is 7.30am to 9.30am - small window. Lunch is 12.30pm to 2.30pm - small window. Etc. it's All inclusive but you have to pay for bottled water. The water in the pipe was dirty/brown. The pool was open from 9.30am to 6.00 pm. Kind of restrictive hours. The beach is ok but extremely rough. I'm not sure if it was the time of the year that the water was rough and dirty. The bath tub/shower was not draining so the water would sometimes raise very quickly in the bath tub and over flow into the bathroom.

Rex Turtle Beach, Tobago

Posted 24-Oct-2017
Pros: Good mix of food - Caribbean, Chinese, American, French, Italian options, tasty soups, fresh pastries and desserts Great drinks from Mr. Grimshaw
Cons: Sanitation and hygiene Appearance of public areas Staff attitude
Location: Beaches Coffee shop
Nice property, but it does not feel like a proper all-inclusive hotel. The main advantage is the decent and varied selection of food and drink, but décor and ambience are ostensibly lacking. Property in desperate need of an upgrade - power wash of external areas, deep clean of floors and exterior, new cushion covers and furniture to get rid of musty stale smell, and elimination of mildew around guttering, pool tiles and public areas. A splash of paint, disinfectant and air freshener would do wonders. Housekeeping makes a valiant effort to maintain cleanliness, but rooms are dated - broken lamp switches that don't work, burnt ironing board cover and poor lighting generally. No basic toiletries like conditioner and body lotion. Water from reception washroom running into lobby, floors wet and a hazard to guests. Security is present in the main reception, but not across the length of the property. Concerns also about sanitation and hygiene with the proliferation of flies, birds and cats in the public areas. There was one hardworking member of staff constantly walking the floor and checking on guests, whom many thought was the General Manager, but in fact was the Food and Beverage Manager. Guests remarked that he never sleeps, since he was clearing dishes and moving 24/7. Mr. Samaroo has to be commended for his professionalism and attentiveness, since the GM was visible only at meals and did not check on his guests, even with bad weather/tropical depression. Not Rex int'l standard

Each room overlooks the ocean. Complimentary breakfast was delicious, and we loved sitting in on the patio after breakfast watching the ocean. Pool was lovely, but the hours made it inaccessible to us (closed at 6pm). Dinner for 2 was about $90 us for 2, and it wasn't anything too special. There wasn't conditioner or lotion in the rooms, which I really wished I had after a day in the ocean and sun.

Beautiful Hotel and staff

Posted 16-Oct-2017
Pros: Pool, beach, restaurant, room, bed. View. All around great experience.
Cons: My vacation time. Should be longer.
Location: Lots of activities, restaurants a short car ride away.
Hotel was very clean. Lobby was welcoming and room was very well kept and appointed. We arrived early by 3 hours and the room was ready and given to us immediately. Staff was exceptionally polite and accommodating. Although we really did not put them to any test, because to be honest we had absolutely no issues. We had a room close to pool, lobby and restaurant. All rooms are ocean view. Which makes the property stretch out pretty far down. Could be an issue for some. But you have to give in to the walk, for the view to be ocean from all rooms.Food was great. Beautiful big pool, which it was a little deeper but nice all the same. Will definitely return to Tobago and Turtle Beach resort will be my first choice of hotel. Manager made it his business to greet the guest and speak with us. Very impressive and intelligent young man. As was the assistant manager and the staff which we encountered. George , Toronto, Canada

Better than expected. Staff were generally friendly. Room was spacious and we'll kept. Breakfast was excellent and good variety. Deserts were unimaginative and boring, though. Bar was well stocked with good service. One the best pools Nightly entertainment was good. Overall I would say that this hotel is one of Tobago's well kept secret. I have stayed at all of Tobago's best hotels and Turtle Beach is definitely the best. Needs better marketing

Amazing stay!!! Definitely recommend!!!

Posted 02-Sep-2017 on Hotels
I recently stayed for 5 nights and had an absolutely wonderful time. From the time I drove in the staff were very receptive. I arrived a bit early for check in and was offered a complimentary drink and towels for the pool while I waited however I declined and decided to go out for lunch. Upon return my room was ready and it was still not the official check in time. That was very surprising yet pleasing since I did read some negative comments about this prior to booking. I had booked a standard room with breakfast included and was not disappointed at all. The people who had the all inclusive package seemed to be enjoying their stay as well. I would have taken the all inclusive but didn't feet would be worth it since I was there with my young son and was not planning on partaking in the alcoholic drinks and lunch and dinner as I had planned to explore the island a bit with him so I chose to rent a car. A car is a necessity if you're with family and wish to venture off the resort as there isn't much around, hence the 3. The overall condition of the resort was really good however I have it a 4 because of three minor issues which were the washroom sink was clogging and there was a leak coming from the back of the toilet. After notifying the front desk and returning to my room later after enjoying our day these issues were fixed. Thirdly I found the shower curtain to be a bit short. Resort is clean and the beach is beautiful. The staff were all friendly and helpful.
