Terrible customer service

Posted 28-Aug-2018
Pros: Its position is beautiful with a range of activities. Non-management staff were especially helpful to us. Plenty of water-activities for children.
Cons: A less evasive management style. Customer service in general and in particular, hospitality and respect when problem solving.
Location: The location is beautiful as is its beach. Turtles nest at certain times of the year and the resort is very child-friendly. Scuba diving was good.
I have never experienced such woeful customer service. On check-in, the resort could only find two of the three rooms in their system for our party of six despite my producing references confirming bookings for three 'all-inclusive' rooms. We were then kept waiting for four hours and beyond the official check-in time because the two rooms were not even ready. No hospitality was offered even for my baby gran-daughter who needed feeding and changing. We coped by taking a return taxi to a nearby town to buy food and drink. We were eventually place randomly in rooms across the resort. I made three unrequited requests to meet the manager to discuss my frustrations, but he seemed to favour interactions with other guests. However, after some negotiation, we were offered a refund of our expenses by his assistant, which sadly, was unfulfilled as we checked-out. What an experience particularly after a journey of several thousand miles! I would not return to this resort except in exceptional circumstances. The resort lacked the finesse and management style to lift it into truly international status. I hope it is never used, in its current style by the Tobago Tourist Board as an advert for a venue for exploring and enjoying the many things that are otherwise so delightful and rewarding on this beautiful island.

Many staff were exceptional - especially the front desk person who checked us in & the one who settled our bill with us the evening before we left. A few others - the ones who had a higher position - were often cold & acted as though we were an inconvenience. Our room was often not well cleaned - the glass with fruit from our welcome drink sat on the vanity for several days. The wifi is terrible & tv barely gets any channels. But overall the hotel is beautiful, the meals are very good & we would come back in the future.

Stayed there for 3 days for a small get away. The shelves in the room was not clean. The wifi only connected in the lobby area and when on the beach but signal was not strong all the time, in the room was very weak and kept dropping. The TV only 3 local stations. The bathroom sink was not clean had lime scale from over time build up. The locks on the room doors are very out dated. Prices for drinks are very expensive for house brand alcohol. Their are do draws in the room for your clothes. Over all the place is nice and has potential to be better. I have stayed in other hotels for less and had a better cosmetic look and feel. Stayed here only because the other places were sold out. If given a choice I will not re-book for the same price.

I stayed five days with my kids who are 4 and 5 years old. The standard room was clean but was a 4 minute walk to reception/pool/dining. When i checked in reception was not very welcoming. The 2nd day I had asked reception for availability and cost to upgrade to closer room, there were 3 employees chit chatting at reception, one told me they will check and find me at the pool to give information...she never did, i was right at the entrance. Food was tastey, breakfast had limited options but lunch and dinner had some variety. Food option for kids very limited, only one day at lunch there was fried chicken and fries. No hot dogs, no burgers, no pizza. Have to say the waiters were very pleasant. There was one huge pool that was 3feet 6inches, which was just great for my kids. There was also a 2 feet kiddy pool. The bar at the pool had only one bartender so sometimes there was a very long wait till your turn. There was no night time entertainment, this was disappointing. Overall stay was ok. But i would not be returning to the this Rex resort in tobago.

There was no room available on check in after 3 pm so i had to wait almost 2 hours for one to be cleaned and made ready and i wasn't the only guest to be made waiting .

I parked at the front and proceeded to check in. Within 2 minutes, the front attendant (lady) glared angrily at me demanding that i move my vehicle despite the fact that my wife and i were checking in and removing our luggage. Additionally, another front attendant told us we were not allowed on the premises since we did not have the wrist bands on. We mentioned to the attendant once again, that we were checking in. Very aggressive and visibly angry. Definitely not a great first impression. Breakfast was a rough outing. The breakfast buffet is served between 7:30 - 9:30 am. We waited for more than 20 minutes at the omelette station for someone to show up and help with our order. When the attendant showed up, she was not smiling and was visibly upset. Coffee took awhile to get as well, the waiter took our order and disappeared for 10 minutes. She returned and asked if 'they had taken care of me' I'm not sure who she was referring to when she explicitly stated that she would be right back with 2 cups, cream, sugar and our coffee. There were other things, however, the key takeaway is that even though premises are in dire needed of repairs, it is the people that ultimately make the resort experience enjoyable. If most of the staff is visibly annoyed, upset or angry, then they should not be in the hospitality business as it ruins the overall experience.

We liked everything about it. However the bartenders can be more friendly.

My family and I had the unfortunate experience of staying at this hotel. The best features of Turtle Beach Hotel are the location on the beach and a sizeable pool. Beyond these, the hotel rooms and common areas are in serious need of repair and upgrade, and it appears the owners haven't done any in decades. We were so disappointed after many months of planning this long awaited vacation, e.g. the drapes in our room had mold and dirt caked into the fabric, and the lamp shades were moldy and had cobwebs. In addition, the bathroom and floors were not cleaned daily, despite our requests made at the front desk. This was our third visit to Tobago, and by far the worst accommodation experience. We woll not return to this hotel. To avoid regrets, we would suggest booking another hotel!
