Overall a good vacation with 3 teenagers. The property does need renovations, but did check most of the boxes we like. There was daytime entertainment/activities and varying nightly shows (Disney night, Mexican, fireshow…) There were several evening restaurants plus 3 buffets and 2 snack stops. We liked Mexican, Italian, French. (We do not recommend steakhouse or seafood). 3 large pools with lively background music. Close to several golf courses. Has a separated kids club with pool plus a zero entry on main pool. Staff were friendly and work hard Downsides: we did not use the beach, it was full of sargassum. The lobby, entertainment and buffet are a LONG walk to the beach/pool. They did have shuttles, but not enough. (If you like walking, very asthetic!) 24 hour bar gets loud. They could use another bar and washroom by the pools; Line ups constant between 11-5. Not enough shade coverage or chairs. (If you reserve chairs in the morning, stay with it or they will take everything away). Prebook a ride. Booking through Expedia I didn’t have a shuttle option and we taxied when we arrived for $260 USD! And finally wifi was terrible. I usually work during vacations and couldn’t due to connectivity problems. Under new ownership - please add more lawn chairs, umbrellas, keep hiring, keep improving chefs, fix up bathrooms and mirrors, get a shuttle bus to the airport, and do whatever you need to have functioning wifi (today’s world needs it!). This resort has lots of potential.

Overall was ok. They wasted my time for around 3 hours to make me buy a package for 100 nights at their resort. Basically they told me, they are going to give me $500 voucher for next stay but after it they said you need to open a credit card to get that. If they offer you to show you around the resort please avoid it, because the seller agent will bother you for 3 hour to make you buy thier vip packages.

The beach area on the particular resort is brutal. It was honestly like a pond. All closed in by wave breaks. We would not have booked this spot if we had known other than that the staff were great and food was ok. If your beach area is that terrible, you should be able to get a drink at the next resorts. This is where we spent most our time( on their beaches)

My family and I stayed at this hotel from March 23 to March 30. Everything was perfect. The staff were very peaceful, helpful, and expert. The food was delicious and varied. Overall, I highly recommend trying this hotel. However, the internet was very slow.

This was not the wrong place to stay; it was the right price and available for our dates. I thought the staff was amiable. The property itself is older and needs updates. Constrcution was happening at the time of our stay. The sand on the beach was pretty, the water and area for for our resort was not well maintained at all. water was brown from the seaweed that was overtaken in the area. We couldn't even get in. Everyone was by the pool. I have never seen it more competitive to get a seat; I am serious; people were out at 5:00 am, I went at 5:45 am, and people already had chairs. Only buffets for breakfast and lunch, No change in variety from day to day. Every meal except for the one night we ate Italian was lukewarm, including the buffet. There was NO nightlife, really; the shows were done in what appeared to be a run-down bar with painted plywood and chairs set up in front of a stage as if we were in grade school again. I love to bed by 10 pm, and even I thought it was sad that the same music played repeatedly at the pool, there no changes in the entertainment staff getting people involved, and the same games every day. Things were also often late starting or skipped over entirely from when they were on the schedule. The water in our room was also chilly, I asked them to turn it up they did but honestly it was still cool. Definitely, family is friendly! I did not see any playgrounds or designated kids vs. adult pools either. I would give it 3 stars. We still enjoyed.

This was our first time, we were in building four which was great and nice and close to the beach and pool. Only issue was the first three days we couldn't get a chair to sit on. People reserve chairs and then they leave so lots of people cannot get comfortable. The food and service was good but the buffet we found confusing at times! People would line up instead of walking around which is usual. But overall a great experience. The lagoon down the way was beautiful and the beach, oceanfront was nice if you walked down the beach past the wharf.

The staff was excellent especially Arianet cuate the concierge. The property is below what we expected and the staff works so hard to fix things that management should focus on . The resort works hard to clear the sea weed that fills the beach not something they can control. There are not enough beach loungers and adding more would be a great improvement. We watched staff do double shifts with always a smile on their face .

Very Beautiful Resort! We kind of had low expectations based off of the reviews we had read before going, however that was not the case at all. The food was really good, and had many varieties at the buffet and multiple resturaunts to reserve, the beaches were always clean and very pretty, multiple pools and lots of space to lay out and abosorb the sun, multiple bars alongside the pools, and a 24 hour bar. They always has some sort of show or entertainment and Dj’s on the beach until 1 am. The staff and crew were very welcoming and super understanding and sweet! It was a very fun and i would recommend it to anyone coming to mexico! (Just don’t forget to wear sunscreen, we did however get sun poisoning)

The staff service was great they all work very hard to provide the best service. The bad, the hotel needs maintenance. The ceiling fan was very loose so we’re have to keep it in the low setting. The AC did not really cool the room. I’ve stayed in many hotels in Cancun and I know that is possible to have good AC working and cooling as expected. We did notified the concierge but they told us it would be just “reported” whatever that means. The food was great either the buffet or the a la carte options. If it wasn’t for the room conditions I would probably come back but because of the room conditions I will not be back to this hotel.

My boyfriend and I came here for spring break and it was adorable for being college kids. We loved the staff and there were so many things to do to keep us entertained. We noticed that their workers are always cleaning so it does keep it nice. There are 5 restaurant options for dinner so we would suggest to try to reserve those asap. There is also amazing room service that pretty much 24/7 where you can order as much as you want but it cost like $7 for delivery. They have a couple cute shops on the resort. The only thing that was pretty disappointing was the pricing for the Spa since we both really wanted to get massages. Also, we would suggest booking your transportation ahead of time from the airport and on your way back to the airport through the hotel so you don’t get scammed by other businesses trying to upcharge you for transportation. DO NOT AGREE TO SPENDING MORE THAN $30-40 on a one way taxi.

Firstly, the staff of the resort were all amazing and nice and helpful for whatever your need was. The pools were awesome, and it was clean, including the inside & outside of the buildings. I also feel like they did an appropriate amount of activities for people of all ages, to both engage with them, but also let them relax too if they wanted that. The reason it doesn’t get a higher star rating from me is because while it’s clean, the place was dated, which isn’t bad.. but there were repairs that should be looked after a little better I think. Our room got hot and muggy in the evenings and no amount of messing with the ac temperature would make it turn on, making the nights very uncomfortable to sleep as we kept waking up sweaty. We called and a repair man came to help promptly during the day, but by night it was back to the hot room. The Italian a la carte place was when we went one evening was almost unbearably hot, as there was no ac whatsoever working in the area. Everyone who was there was sweating. On the subject of food, it was good, but not great. Like don’t go there expecting the best food of your life basically. It was good, some things better than others and some days better than others. What I will say though, the Mexican a la carte dining was amazing. That and the Italian are by far the best food there. About the beach, the water was not really clear so not many people that I saw actually went in the water. It’s more of a pool place! Hope that helps!

The staff at Blue Bay Grande Esmerelda were amazing and very helpful! The rooms were clean. There were a few things that need maintenance in the rooms. The beach was disappointing. Not enough loungers and many needed to be replaced with working ones. The grounds were kept very nice.

The food options for vegetarians are verrry bad and almost nothing... get ready to eat beans n mashed potatoes everyday ..and fruit options r also 3 thats it ... staff very rude for the people booking from expedia there is a seperate reception area which they call VIP but actually its the opposite they treat u the worse ...the actually reception of the hotel is way much better.. and MOST IMPORTANTLY U CANNOT SWIN IN THE BEACH COZ IT FILLED WITH BIGG RICKS N NOT SAFE AT ALL TO SWIM AND IF U THINK ABT THE POPL THAN FORGET IT COZ SOMEONE HOW U WILL NEVER GWT PLACE ALL THE SEATS ARE ALQAYS FILLED WITH TOWELS ETC...

Never again!!! Staff friendly but the hotel was disgusting down to the beach . The whole property smelled like sewer. The food was aweful besides the steak house . Highly recommend to stay at a different hotel

The staff was great. Friendly and helpful. The landscaping was nice and well kept. The rooms were awful. We asked to be moved due to excessive noise all night at the beach. Our new room had a leak in the bathroom ceiling and the room smelled Musty. The sliding door was nearly impossible to open. The food was okay. We liked the Italian restaurant. The beach chairs were hard to get. We had to save a chair by 6:30 or lay in the sand. Not a great beach either.

Blue Bay is very nice. Large resort but trolley service if you don’t want to walk. Buffet restaurant have quite good food options. They had lovely vendor markets on Tuesdays right in walk paths. Fun music by pools. Lots of towels! Really only negative e was the beach. Sadly too much seaweed to even swim. We walked to other resort beach about 2 minutes where water was so much better.

They were overbooked so there were ZERO beach or pool chairs available....people were laying poolside on the ground. I attempted to get up at 6:30 to "reserve" chairs for myself BUT they were already taken. And dont exoect hot water when taking a shower.

Very good facilities, staff, entertainment and food in general. Things that perhaps could be improved: more lounge chairs (guest go out at 5-6 am to secure loungers with shade ... ? That CLEARLY is an indicator. ) need more shade with loungers too (love the sun, but too much is unhealthy)

Beautiful, huge resort. Be prepared for a lot of walking to get around. Our room door lock broke and it took a few hours to get fixed. The beach swing bar was excellent. Walking in the water on the beach was difficult due to the number of rocks in the sand. Food was mostly good.
