to be honest I expected a little more for 5 star rating - genuinely in my eyes this is a 3 to a 3.5 star max.
Especially when you have to pay extra for everything - including a safe!! The distance from the airport etc should have been made a little more obvious - its not that easy to get to. In my view, it was expensive for what it was.
Please be aware that you even have to pay for the beds on the beach every single day you go. Towels you have also hire out. We paid a 2000 for 7 days and I feel it wasn't worth that much.
Also the pool - not enough beds as people take them early.
Noise - room 101 - at 8 am every morning - lots and lot of noise from the kitchen below.

First of all, we would like to thank you for choosing our hotel for your summer vacations and for taking your time to post your experience in Porto Platanias.
We would like to apologize for all the inconveniences that you mention in your comment. We would like though to inform you the following. Our hotel is located in the heart of Platanias resort which is the most well known resort in the West Crete. Moreover, Crete island is the biggest of Greece and it is reasonable that the distances are not always close. Our hotel has a central location in Platanias and it is only few kilometers away from Hania city center. The airport is around 25 km away.
Moreover, the sun beds at the beach have an extra cost for our guests because we rent this area from the municipality of Platanias. The towels for the pool or the beach are provided with a deposit. Also let us mention that our sun beds around our 9 pools are more than 600! We understand though your complaint that some guests disobey our rules that sun beds are not allowed to be reserved but as far as you know we have informative signs all around the pools and our staff remove the towels when noone is present.
Last but not least, we wish we knew your inconvenience with the room location during your stay in order to help you and change the room for you.
