"Great getaway, away from everything & everyone"
After a stressful last 5 minutes of our journey by car to the hotel (had car trouble, but managed to reach the hotel, in the dark), we were greeted by a really warm & friendly receptionist, Annette, who gave us 5 star service. We had a tired & hungry 16 month old baby Joshua with us. Annette even managed to get a smile from Joshua. Check in was smooth & quick. Thank you Annette. We were on the 2nd floor, with access by elevator. Arriving at our room, we were pleasantly surprised at the size of our room, and a cot was ready for Joshua's bed time. The room was really clean & spotless, and serviced daily. Thank you housekeeping. The room had a bath & shower, making it easy to bath our baby. The beds were also really comfy. The hotel has 3 bar's/restaurants, but we decided to enjoy room service. Although the meals are a bit pricey, the food was really top class. We woke to the sight of snow in the morning outside our window, and made our way down to the breakfast room. Breakfast was also great. During the day we tried out the heated indoor swimming pool. The facilities were spotless & clean. While we were swimming, we could see the snow falling outside which made it spectacular. As we had no car, we decided to take a stroll & enjoy nature with it's beautiful view of snow on the surrounding mountains. The hotel's next to Loch Rannoch, which I'm sure would be great during summer, as there's facilities to hire kayak's etc. Thank you MacDonald Loch Rannoch. We'll be back.

"Fine for an overnight stay"
Stopped off here on the first leg of a 3 day tour of the Highlands. Think it is more suited for short stays rather than longer stays which is fine as most residents seem to be in transit elsewhere or hillwalkers etc. Room was fine if a little dated. Nice dining room (had a lovely breakfast). Wifi not good and needs to be improved. Ok bathroom with non electric shower, bath and toilet. Bothy bar served ok food and drink but I found it a bit untidy - needs more regular uplifts of plates/glasses etc and tables need wiped properly. There was a smaller nicer looking "resident style" bar but did not go there - maybe should have. Nice comfy bed in our double room and a smallish (by modern standards) tv. Would come back again for an overnight stay if passing again.

"A really welcoming stay!"
We stayed overnight for a short break to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The staff could not have been more friendly or helpful, our room was freshly decorated, comfortable, and warm with everything we could have wished for, we ate in the hotel and both dinner and breakfast were exceptionally good. Happy to recommend this hotel without any qualifications and hope to revisit in the future.

"Very Scottish"
Upon arrival in our room, it looked like someone took liquid tartan and sprayed it over the room. Apart from the insane tartan coverage, the room was comfortable, but definitely dated. You could feel the warped floorboards underneath the carpet and feel the whole room vibrate when anyone walked across it. It definitely needs a bit of an upgrade. Even with the dated room, the rooms were very comfortable, the staff was welcoming, and the food/atmosphere in the bar was superb. I would recommend this hotel to friends/family in the area.

"Beautiful old style hotel"
Beautiful old style hotel, ideally located for local amenities, also ideal location for further exploring in beautiful surroundings. Staff welcoming and friendly, food was a good experience , we opted for the stag head ( hotel bar) cuisine which was excellent.

Pocket Guide: Perth and Kinross Pitlochry Hotels

The region of Perth and Kinross is home to the city of Perth, considered one of Scotland’s culinary epicentres and home to a number of important historical attractions, such as the famous coronation site of Scone Palace, and St. John’s Kirk, one of the most important churches in the country. Those looking to enjoy many of the region’s outdoor activities would be best served booking a hotel in one of the more rural areas of the region, where they’re be able to enjoy everything from fishing and rafting on the River Tay, to golfing at Gleneagles Golf Course, and climbing the summit of Ben Vrackie.

Visit the Burgh of Pitlochry on the River Tummel

Pitlochry is located to the north of the city of Perth towards the border of the Scottish Highlands, and because of this geographic location it is a popular destination for trekkers and hillwalkers. The town has maintained many of its Victorian style buildings, making it an attractive rural town well worth a visit on a trip to more northern regions.
