The check-in was smooth. I had an economy room on the 7th floor. It was basic but workable. The breakfast had an excellent spread. They had sky TV with several channels. There was no A.C. remote (we were too lazy to ask). The body wash, soap and towels were very good quality.

We had a nice stay here, though there were some things we weren't so keen on. The lift up to the rooms is very small indeed and the room itself had a funny smell, though you get used to it. The double bed is actually two singles pushed together. The room was clean and well furnished, though there were mosquitoes and the bathroom water took a long time to heat up. The staff are friendly, though we had an issue one morning with workmen banging hammers at 8am. The breakfast is basic but fine, though the hot chocolate isn't good. Overall though, the hotel's location is good, close to Keith Haring's art mural, the best sandwich bar in Pisa (Gusto Guisto) and great shopping on Corsa Italia. It's about 20 mins stroll, across the river, to the leaning tower and Piazza Duomo.
The MInerva hotel is a 3 star hotel in a quite area, close enough to the train station to walk and also a 20 -25 stroll from the airport. The staff are very friendly and very helpful . The room was spotless . We spent 3 days here and found it an ideal hotel for a short break. Would recommend it to friends. The down side to the quite area is that there are not many places to eat close by. But a 10 minute walk will take you to the main shopping, eating street.

Hotel La Torre is ideally located for those wishing to use it as a base for exploring the local area. It is a 2 minute walk (literally) to the train station and 20 minutes to the airport (locals ALL trundle their wheeled cases out of the airport, under the autostrada, past the PISA sign with the top left to bottom right red line through it, down the road, over the railway and turn left for the station). As for food you can pick up railway priced snacks at the station from 6am to 8pm or eat cheaply (chicken and rice for 7 Euros, pizzas from 4 to 8 Euros, Chinese (I am told) even cheaper in the station plaza area) in the area around the station. If you want to eat posh (and expensive) then eat off the main drag to La Torre to the north of the Arno river. Pisa is a nice walled city that can be walked around (the outside of the walls) in an hour or so.
The Hotel itself is a typical budget hotel, nothing special but with a good breakfast buffet between 7am and 10am. For those liking "fresh air" in your room you may be disappointed as air conditioning is preferred (windows can be opened with difficulty).
Local sights not to miss: Florence (Firenze) and Cinque Terre. Further afield Rome can be done as a day trip (3 hours each way), Genoa (2 hours each way) and for the patient Milan (4 hours each way) all by train. If you book your trains via the Trenitalia website early enough trips can be booked for as low as 9 Euros a trip - even for trips to Milan and Naples!
Generally, I liked the hotel. Rooms are clean, breakfast is very delicious. It was a pleasant surprise that there's also a separate room where visitors can have tea or coffee with croissant and TV. The only thing that was frustrating is a quality of wi fi. It's very non stable.
