I'd never been to Pisa before and its not a great place to visit. However, regular trains to other towns, notably Lucca, makes it a good base. The highlight for me wasn't the Leaning Tower but Orzo Bruno - perfect for anyone who enjoys good beer in a friendly and lively environment..
The location of the NH Pisa is excellent. Just a few minutes away from the airport, costing less than 10 Euros in a taxi. It is also across the road from the train station making it a great location for exploring the rest of Tuscany. We spent a day visiting Florence during our stay and the trains ran every 20 minutes from early morning to late in the evening. Return journey costing 16 Euros. The hotel is also only a short walk into the city centre and only 20 minutes walk from the leaning tower. The hotel is modern and very comfortable. Breakfast was included in the price and included a very good range of hot and cold buffet items. Would definitely stay here again! The only slight downside was the city tax which we were unaware of until we checked out. 2 Euros per person per day could come to quite a lot for a family staying for a week. As it was, we were only 2 people for 2 days so it didn't amount to much.
PROS: A very welcoming greet when we arrived. The gentlemen spoke very good English which was helpful. Things were explained well and he was very helpful. I had a lovely breakfast which lots to choose from, and again, we asked if they would hold our luggage and they were more than happy to, so we could explore Pisa without lugging them around with us. This was after we had checked out of our room too, so it was really helpful.
CONS: There was one other member of staff, who was slightly rude to me when I aksed about my passport, which upset me a little. However, he was spoken to about his approach (or so I think as the other person was talking abruptly in Italian). Area is slightly noisy but not too much.

Seven-floor hotel located on a lively shopping street, just 1.5 kilometres from the famous leaning tower of …More
This hotel was fine for our one night stay in Pisa, but nothing spectacular. The location was the best thing about the hotel - 5 minutes from the train station (which is good if you are arriving from another city), and 2 minutes to the bus stop for the airport. The room was small but comfortable enough with great air con. The room felt a little claustrophobic as there were shutters on the windows which couldn't be lifted. However by the the time we got back to the hotel after sightseeing and eating out in Pisa it didn't matter too much as it was dark anyway. The bathroom was nice and clean, although we did notice some damp mildew around the shower cubicle.
The hotel staff were friendly, but not forthcoming with advice/directions (ie we had to ask for a map and directions to the Leaning Tower).
Breakfast was included in the price which was good, although the selection was very limited.
The hotel was satisfactory for a one nights stay, although I wouldn't choose this hotel if I was staying in Pisa for any longer.
Great hotel for a night or two. Even though there was only one bathroom for 6 rooms, waiting never was an issue. They do not provide towels, but the beds were actually pretty comfy. Breakfast buffet wasn't anything special, but the staff is friendly and they'll make you whatever kind of coffee you want. This is a great value for the location.
If you're looking for a luxury hotel, you're not going to get it for this price. But this place is clean and well located and perfectly adequate. The staff doesn't speak very good English, which some people seem to be complaining about, but c'mon, you're traveling in a foreign country. Be a little bit more adventurous. You can get by with exaggerated hand gestures just fine- they are very friendly and try to be helpful.
"Nice guest house close to airport & train station"
Guest house itself is off a back-street, through a set of security gates used by several other houses / apartment buildings. From the outside it's not much to look at, but inside it is pleasant and clean. Check in was stated as 4:30 but as we were arriving at 1:30 we asked if we could drop off our bags and this was no problem. In fact the room was also ready for us at 1:30 too, but as we were going directly into town we didn't make use of it directly. Flavia (the host) provided us with maps, directions and advice on good local restaurants (avoiding the tourist areas) which we used and proved to be good choices - especially if you like seafood.
The room we had was spacious and clean, had a nice quiet air-conditioning unit in it and a pleasant bathroom. The bed was large and comfortable.
Breakfast was served from 07:30 to 10:30 and was a pretty comprehensive buffet style containing fruit, cakes (home made), cereals, juices, yoghurts and more. Much better than many business-class hotels I stay in.
