The staff at Hotel Maximus were extremely polite, friendly, and attentive throughout our stay. They were by far the highlight of our experience.
The room was surprisingly spacious for Rome, which we appreciated. However, it was not as clean as we expected.
The biggest drawback was the location. Although it is relatively close to the main train station, it is far from most of Rome’s main attractions. The neighborhood is not very tourist-oriented, and we didn’t feel particularly comfortable walking around at night.
One evening, there was no hot water for showers, which was very disappointing after a long day of sightseeing.
Overall, we found our stay disappointing, even for a three-star hotel. While the staff were excellent, the location, cleanliness, and hot water issue significantly affected our experience.

Overall, we had a very pleasant stay, but I rated the property's maintenance and amenities 4 out of 5 for a few reasons.
We booked a Superior Room with a cathedral view, but the entire cathedral façade is currently covered by scaffolding and a large restoration tarp. I understand that this is outside the hotel's control, but since the room is marketed as having a view, it would have been appreciated if guests had been informed before arrival.
The bed's headboard also showed noticeable signs of wear, with several pieces peeling off. It's a minor detail, but it takes away from the overall impression of a premium room.
Finally, when we arrived and took a shower, we found that the shampoo/body wash dispenser in the shower was empty. We mentioned it to the staff, and it was refilled by the time we returned later that evening, so the issue was resolved quickly. Still, for a room averaging over 250$ per night, these are details that should already be taken care of before guests check in.
That said, the hotel's central location was a major advantage and made it easy to explore the city on foot. We were able to walk to most of the main attractions, which made our stay even more enjoyable.

Wellnes on the budget, Balaton Lake is 15 min
"Great small, family owned wellness hotel with all the goodies. Breakfast was nice, however, it's only starts at 8:00am. So if you were arriving from California and you are up at 5:00am, and very hungry, you should go to downtown Siofok to grab a bite at Lipoti Bakery, they open like 5:30am. Going ..."

"Zwei getrennte Häuser. Die Küche ist im extra Haus untergebracht. Sehr umständlich wenn man morgens Kaffee trinkt. Zur Sauberkeit, na ja den Backofen konnten nur die dort drin sitzenden Spinnen benutzen. Das größere Haus war nur zu benutzen wenn man schlafen gehen wollte. Kein gemütliches Wohnzimmer ..."
