very friendly, but a bit cramped

I stayed for two nights to enjoy beautiful Rosedale and relax. I booked a suite via hotels.com, which was supposed to sleep up to three people. There was only one of me but I had a lot of stuff with me. I was given a very small twin room, with only one of the beds made up. I would have chosen to sleep in the other one if I had had the choice - indeed I had to re-arrange everything when I discovered the bed I was about to get into was not made up. The shower was very tiny indeed. I didn't particularly enjoy my room as I felt very cramped in it. However it was quiet and very clean, with a lovely view. The forced choice of bed meant it was a bit difficult to enjoy the view though. The retreat is vegetarian, but I found the breakfast a bit disappointing - it was like a normal English breakfast without the meat. I had expected something more inventive as vegetarian cuisine can be fabulous. Everything was very clean and calm, and the staff were unfailingly welcoming and helpful. Allowing guests to have fresh milk in a small jug in their rooms for beverages is a lovely touch. It was good value for money, but the room was not what I thought I had booked. If I had known I would have made a different choice.

Wonderful place truly a home from home. Edward and his team have got it just right (our 5th visit).

    A true retreat.

Staying at the Tree is an experience in itself, the peace and calm is astonishing. It is a deeply spiritual place and environment to be able to clear your mind and wind down. It has spa facilities but is not to be compared with a spa as it is truly unique.

    Pros: It is unique.

Cons: The rooms could be updated.

Location: National park, falconry, walks, nice pubs, wonderful countryside, small towns in the heart of the Yorkshire Moors.
