Book the suite and don't stay longer than 2 days
Really nice hotel if you book the suite with privat pool otherwise there is no pool (we paid 1000baht on arrival for an upgrade) staff. Is very friendly The beach is not far but not woth a visit as it's really rocky and dirty and there are not many bars/restaurants near so if you stay longer than 1night it could get really boring as hotel has apart from the rooms nothing to offer

Peaceful hotel with gorgeous views
Relaxing 5 night stay at this wonderful little resort! All staff very friendly and helpful we rented a scooter to explore the island which was easily done at reception. High standards cleaning lovely room decor! Nothing to fault!!

Disappointed by Koh Yao Yai
If you're happy to spend a great deal of quiet time at the hotel, relaxing & swimming in your private pool, it's great. But if like me, you want to spend a lot of time on the beach or swimming in the ocean, pick another island altogether. During low tide the ocean receeds so much that it's not only ugly it's not doable :( During high tide ocean looks beautiful but swimming isn't pleasant because there's a clay like, mushy substance on the ocean floor. I was seriously disappointed. Also really not much else to do on the island..... Resort is wonderful though.

A wonderful experience
23 hours travel to a place you hope will be ok? Well, it was and better. A very warm and friendly welcome, nothing was too much trouble for the always smiling and friendly staff. Beautiful room with a large infinity pool outside the bedroom doors and a view across to the far islands.

Nice view with private pool. Awesomeness
Water for the bathtub was hot for only a short period of time. Amazing stay with beautiful people and view. I would recommend it to anyone.

Amazing !!
It was amazing ; we spend there for two nights .. the room was clean , the pool is wonderful but I advice them to make some privacy in pool .foe customer , You have to close the door all the time to avoid the insects . In spite of this .. it was wonderful place and we had much fun in koh yao yai island !

Quiet place to stay, friendly staff!
The island Koh Yoa Yai is a quiet and developing island. The food and staff at the Hillside resort are both great. A very quiet relaxing stay with day trip options for very reasonable prices to sites nearby. Scooter rental is available to get around the island and explore the local eateries and beaches.

Nice Stay - Not for Single
I stayed for 8 nights at the resort by myself to relax and finish writing my dissertation in peace. This is not the vacation spot for a single, as the staff was constantly asking what was wrong, why I was alone, etc. It is meant to be a romantic vacation, not a solo-getaway. I stayed in two rooms over the course of my stay and there was a clear difference in quality. My first room type was a deluxe with no pool access. The room itself was spectacular and well-kept, however had no pool. The second room was a bungalow with a pool and it was not as clean, had slab concrete floors, the bathroom facilities were only walled on three sides and the fourth was thatched, which meant bugs and creatures could enter. There was a reptile that makes loud squeaking sounds like a rubber duck scratching the doors and windows and running over the roof at all hours of the night, making it difficult to sleep. If you get a room like this keep the door between the bathroom and the room closed. The outdoor shower was an experience as well, as it wasn't a particularly strong water flow so it took quite a while to wash out shampoo and conditioner from my hair. The highlight was the pool, which was well kept. You also can't argue with the views from any room at the resort. I would also mention that if you want to explore the island and cannot ride a motorbike, this is not the place for you. There is very little to do without a motorbike and you will have a difficult time making it to a beach on foot.

Remote and quiet
This hotel is located on the northeastern side of the island. Not really walking distance to any amenities (food, beaches, etc). There is a restaurant on site which is just ok. Highly recommend renting a scooter from the hotel (300 baht/day) to explore the island. I booked a private tour (for a 7 hour trip to Hong Island and other inhabited islands) through the hotel and it was fairly expensive, but you are paying for the convenience. No indoor bathing - only outdoor shower and outdoor jacuzzi. Welcome fruit plate and cold bottled water in the room was a nice touch.

It was so quiet & relaxing - perfect place to unwind. Location is not great, but we were happy to chill in our pool/jacuzzi all day/night. Also had 2 excellent Thai massages in the room - very luxurious.

Very clean and new
The hotel is very nice and clean, the little bungalows are very comfortable and the bathroom is very well kitted out and sparkling clean. Only downside is it's not on the the beachfront but still you have amazing views from the private terrace of the bungalow. Food was very good also and you get free water, fruit and coffee which is in the room. I highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Koh Yao Yai. Enjoy!

Piscine privée avec vue imprenable sur la mer
Super hôtel, ce qui est particulièrement appréciable est la piscine privée avec une intimité quasi totale. Chambre très spacieuse et confortable avec une vue imprenable sur la mer. Petit déjeuner copieux et varié. Restaurant de bonne qualité. Seul bémol, la plage à proximité n'est pas super bien. Les belles plage sont à 4 à 8 km. Pour y aller, il faut louer un scooter ou prendre un taxi.

Nice small hotel with a great view
It's a small resort with villas with or without a pool. Restaurant is a good and they serve both western & Thai cuisine. There are few other restaurants within walking distance if you want to have a meal elsewhere. But the view is definitely the best in the resort restaurant Gala and pricing is almost the same as in the small places next to the road. Rooms a clean, beds are high quality, staff friendly. Only negative aspect is the location right next to the main road. Rent a motorbike from the reception when you want to sightsee or go to the various beaches in the island

Hotellet er overordnet et godt hotel, men har nogle mangler. Morgenmaden er decideret dårlig og mangelfuld, når hotellet har 4 stjerner. Derudover er der ingen strand i nærheden af hotellet. Dog har hotellet en god beliggenhed med en flot østvendt havudsigt, og der ligger 2-3 gode restauranter inden for en radius af 2 km.

Vi havde et ophold på 4 overnatninger, hvor vi havde booket et værelse med privat pool. Det var helt fantastisk og alle pengene værd! Personalet var utrolig serviceminded og venlige. På selve øen sker der ikke noget, hvilket gjorde at vi bare kunne slappe fuldstændig af uden at have travlt med at skulle se alt muligt.

Vi hadde rom med flott basseng, nydelig uteplass med dusj og solsenger. Sol morgen, men gratis transport hele dagen til vakreste stranden vi var på i Krabi. deilig middag og vinntiø hyggelig pris i restauranten. Gratis utlån sykler og leie mobed til symbolsk pris. Trivelig sted for 1-3 nettet. Bildene på nettstedet gir ikke noe godt inntrykk, stedet er mye bedre i virkeligheten.

매우 아늑하고 여유를 즐길 수 있는 호텔
섬도 고요하고, 호텔 또한 아늑하고 편하게 쉴 수 있기에 완벽하다. 바다 전망으로 아름다운 풍경이 펼쳐져 있으며 프라이빗 풀을 이용할 수 있다. 무엇보다 이 곳은 직원들이 너무나도 친절하다는 것.

Stille og roligt væk fra turister. Der er kun få hoteller i nærheden. Personalet er venlige, smilende og hjælpsomme. Der ligger flere små spisesteder på stranden. Lej en bil eller scooter og kør rundt og se den charmerende ø.

Schöne Aussicht und eigener Pool
Das Hotel ist schön, aber wir hätten einen kürzeren Aufenthalt auf der Insel und ein Resort direkt am Meer buchen sollen. Hier im Hillside Resort mit der wunderschönen Aussicht hat uns einfach der Straßenlärm gestört. Wir wollten auf eine ruhige Insel - dafür war dies der falsche Platz. Aber der eigene Pool war herrlich erfrischend, zumal das Meer dafür zu warm ist. Aber selbst einige Nachbarn haben uns beim Lärmen in ihrem Pool gestört, daher würden wir das nächste Mal was anderes buchen, wo wir ungestörter sind. Das Hotel und Frühstück etc. sind ansonsten sehr gut, daher war es insgesamt ein schöner Aufenthalt. Mit dem Roller vom Hotel haben wir die Insel erkundet.

Nyt hotel med gode værelser. Ligger tæt på vandet, men der kan ikke bades. 5,5 km til nærmeste ikke særligt gode strand. Ca. 20 km til god strand. Når der sættes filter på strand og pool kommer hotellet frem, men der er ingen fælles pool. Havde booket 1 uge, men tig afsted efter 3 overnatninger. Book kun dette hotel med privat pool. Ligger ret øde.

Finare på bild
Mysig och lugn ö. Bilderna är mycket finare än verkligheten. Framkom inte riktigt att det inte fanns en allmän pool men vi fick uppgradera till ett rum med privat pool för 1300 baht/natt. Fina rum med mkt mysig utomhusjacuzzi. Mycket trevlig och hjälpsam personal! En bra bit till stranden (10 min promenad) och tidvattnet gör att många stränder på ön ibland försvinner. Ett annat stort minus är att terasserna är belägna på ett sätt att de under stor del av dagen hamnar i skuggan.

Fint med eget basseng
Bra med eget basseng, rent og pent. Aircondition står rett på sengen, så man blir sannsynligvis forkjølet av å bo her. Jeg ble det. Sengene er harde som betong. Fikk også rom 304 uten utsikt, fikk ikke endret pga fullbooket. Frokost var minimal. Resturanten serverte svært god mat. Personale er helt topp! Bra mopeder til utleie.

Jederzeit wieder! Beste Aussicht überhaupt
Wir sind einen Tag später angekommen als gebucht (hatten aber eine Nachricht hinterlassen und insgesamt 9 Tage die Poolvilla gebucht) - trotzdem war unser Zimmer dann vergeben. Das Personal hat dann sehr schnell reagiert und uns ohne Aufpreis ein Upgrade gegeben (eine größere Poolvilla). Ich kann natürlich nur über die reden, aber die Aussicht war mega! (Vom Bett aus, vom Pool aus, sogar vom Klo aus :D) Zimmer war super komfortabel und sehr sauber und neu alles. Für mich war es eines der besten Hotels überhaupt. Aber kleine Abzüge für: Das Essen im Restaurant ist sehr teuer und hat außerdem sehr kleine Portionen. Daher würde ich immer woanders hinfahren, wenn man einen Roller hat. Taxi vom Hotel ist auch viel zu teuer für ganz kurze Routen. Empfehlung ans Hotel: Bringt das Essen doch auf die Zimmer, dann hätte ich trotz teurem Preis sicherlich ein/zweimal darauf zurückgegriffen, um einfach am Pool liegen bleiben zu können. ——— English version shorter: We arrived later then booked, but sent a message to inform then. Our room (pool villa) was occupied by then so they gave us an upgrade without additional charge. The bigger pool villa had such a nice view everywhere (from bed, from pool even from the toilet). Comfort and cleanliness was perfect. Just the food in the restaurant was too expensive and had very small portions, so I would recommend to drive somewhere else for dinner if you have a scooter anyway.

Gutes Hotel
Das Hillside Resort ist ein wirklich schönes Hotel mit tollem Blick Richtung Meer. Leider ist momentan zwischem dem Hotel und dem Meer eine Baustelle und man kann nicht direkt an den Strand gehen. Doch die Insel bietet viele schöne Strände, welche einfach mit dem Roller erkunded werden können. Diese kann man übrigens ganz leicht im Hotel mieten. Des Weiteren sind die Angestellte sehr nett und hilfsbereit. Das Zimmer war sehr sauber und die Ausstattung insbesondere das Bad wirklich traumhaft. Gerne wieder einmal.
