Unhelpful staff

Posted 17-Nov-2015
Pros: The location is great.
Cons: Staff can be more helpful when the hotel has issues not of the guest's creation.
My husband and I are relocating to Philadelphia and booked this hotel for three nights. The first night, the carbon monoxide detector in our room started making a high pitched beeping every couple of minutes. I called the front desk and the clerk came to look at it. He said that it was the battery. After some time, he determined he was unable to fix it and would switch us to a different room. It was late and we didn't want to move all of our luggage, so I said that we would try to live with it until the next morning when Maintenance could repair it. My husband has hearing aids that he could remove, so he was able to sleep. After two hours, though, I was unable to fall asleep. I went to the desk and asked the same clerk if he could give me another room to sleep in until 7am the next morning, at which point I would wake my husband and move our luggage. He refused because that would be, "as if we got two rooms for the price of one." I explained that I didn't want to wake my husband in the middle of the night and the net result to the hotel was the same. I also expressed my disappointment, as this was a maintenance issue with the hotel. The clerk would not budget and refused to provide me with any type of customer service number for Rodeway. I ended up waking my husband and moving because I had to be able to get at least a few hours sleep before an interview I had scheduled early in the morning. I've have stayed in this hotel in the past and am reluctant to do so again.

Sehr zentral gelegenes Stadthotel

Posted 09-Nov-2015

Great location/walls too thin!

Posted 09-Nov-2015
Great location in Philly, the hotel was modern but the room was tiny and the walls were very thin: we could hear everything in the hall and next room.

Not in a good location or property!

Posted 08-Nov-2015
Pros: The staff is the only reason I stayed.
Cons: Pick another location.
Extremely over priced, poor quality room furniture and tiny, tiny room! Keep looking. There are much better values within a few blocks.

Cute older hotel

Posted 29-Oct-2015
Pros: The hotel is so adorable. It has a different feel from other hotels, and the feel was cozy and intimate.
Cons: Maybe a pamphlet for the shared bathroom with the etiquette for using it would be put in those particular rooms?
Location: It seems to be in a central location within Center City. Center City looked cramped but I felt that made finding places to eat easier by walking.
I had a very pleasant stay here. I did get a room with a shared bathroom, and the times I used the shared bathroom, it was clean. The bed in my room was comfortable and I slept soundly. I was very grateful for the bottled water in the room. Both hotel staff I talked to were amazing and helped me with procuring a taxi by hailing it down for me. Check-in was easy; check-out was effortless. The elevator is small but stable.

Doesn't look like much from the outside!

Posted 14-Sep-2015
Pros: I loved that it was surprisingly AMAZING inside. I would definitely stay there again.
Location: You must eat at Green Eggs Cafe. The food is filling and reasonably priced.
We were hesitant at first because the hotel looked a little drabby on the outside but was wonderful on the inside. Large beds with amazing linen. Our room had a large closet we used to iron with the iron and ironing board the hotel provided. The front desk staff was pleasant and friendly. The pitcher filled ice water and slices of lemon was a very refreshing after a long day out.
