We really enjoyed the boutique atmosphere of the hotel - the staff seemed to take extra care to make us feel welcome. Loved the coffee that was always available downstairs and the nightly happy hours. Our room was always clean when we came back in the afternoon!

This was our first stay. I did not give 5 stars to the property but the staff and location is great. The property has been very well kept and is a fine place to stay and we will be there again.

It’s- nice quaint and quiet. Free cocktail hour with hors doeves and wine and beer. Free breakfast. I was allowed to check in super early which was helpful. Very helpful. Not a place for kids … more adult themed. The tv and remote control were soooo dated. All in all it was fine for the price. Clean. Just dated. The staff were very awesome and helpful.

Close to my Son’s restaurant. Wasn’t happy when they tried to put me in a room with a twin bed, but I stood my ground.

Historic property that could use a little more upkeep but was very safe and clean with friendly staff and terrific location. We could walk to most attractions, both cultural (Philadelphia Orchestra) and historic (Liberty Bell, etc.). Terrific restaurants very close by. Highly recommend for location and price.

Check in was made very difficult. The room I booked and paid for, I couldn't open the door. Was made to feel like I was in the wrong and ended up in a room that was not the same in price or space. No price accommodation was offered. I to;d the clerk I was tired from traveling and was told, "you don't look tired, you look angry".

I thought the Inn was great. I had a small, attractively decorated single room which was quiet. The staff were very nice and the breakfast and the room in which it was situated were nice. It’s a continental breakfast with some good protein options. The location is wonderful…lots of funky shops and good restaurants around. My only quibble is minor…no coffeemaker in the room and I don’t think an urn is available 24/7 as in some hotels. But they do open up at 7.

Staying at the Alexander Inn was a very nice experience. We appreciated the small intimate setting that felt more relaxed than the large hotels with lots of bells and whistles. The breakfast was fine, and it was nice to have daily drinks and snacks. The location was very convenient being able to walk to most places in Philly. We appreciated the quiet location despite being in a big city.

The Alexander Inn is a great place to stay in downtown Philly. It is in a nice neighborhood and close to everything we enjoy in the city. The staff are top-notch, as well. When we had an issue with our room, they jumped into action and moved us to another room without delay. Couldn't ask for better service. We will definitely stay here again.

I have stayed at the Alexander for several years and this year I noticed a shift. The initial check In was met with a disinterested staff member who was on her cell phone. The room had stains on carpet and the sink was loose from the wall. The evening reception area was excessively decorated in dark burgundy. The covers over the furniture, table clothes and the uncomfortable covers over the chairs. The flashing tip box was also a little over the top. The area outside the hotel also seemed to had declined since our last visit. I love the architecture and the location.

The hotel itself is well-maintained, the staff was extremely helpful, and we liked the wine and cheese tasting in the evening. One negative is the amount of noise on the street all night long.

The Alexander has a lovely, cozy vibe and is not the typical corporate "cookie cutter" arrangement. Front desk and food area staff are extra nice. This place is warm, unique and human scale.

Needs some updates in rooms. Tired looking carpets, bedding rough, blinds broken. Desk assigned us a room with 2 doubles instead of queen and blamed Expedia even though I had confirmation directly from hotel. Did change room but grudgingly. Gave no hotel info at checkin about free snacks and breakfast.

Friendly staff and the breakfast was delicious. Very clean Only two things were problems. The toilet paper was hard and uncomfortable. And the keys kept not working on my door lock. Kept having to get extra keys. Hope yall fix the lock and the toilet paper. Otherwise fantastic

The hotel is so quiet. Every thing is walable from the hotel. Staff beautiful. They have a free Happy Hour every day between 5 pm and 7:30 pm. Memorable weekend in Philly.

Whenever we spend nights in Philadelphia we stay at the Alexander Inn. The staff is superb and always attentive to our comfort. The morning buffet breakfast is a nice treat and now an afternoon wine and cheese reception if part of the stay. Rooms are clean and comfortable with great views of center city. We will be back again very soon!

The front desk dropped the ball on our wake up call and missed it. Caused us a lot of problems. Our room was too warm. No individual controls. Very Bad. Food and food service was excellent. Parking was terrible and difficult to use. I will not recommend!

Room was incredibly small. Bathroom was the size a phone booth. The building is very old and is a shock if one is used to modern chain hotels. For example, the bathroom was tiled in tiny mosaic beige textured tiles that look dirty even though they are likely not. Having said that, the room was clean and the towels thick. TV did not work. Elevator smelled of oil and broke while I was there.

We loved that this is an old-school, in-town, independent hotel. Unlike some of the corporate apartment and airbnb proliferators, this is a proper little hotel. 24 hour front desk with lovely staff, fireplace lit, pleasant breakfast -- and super convenient to everything in Washington Square West/Gayborhood.
