Nice hotel, shame about the owners

We requested a hotel in Penzance and you gave us this whh is actually 7 miles outside Penzance - quite a distance when you want to stay there to catch the 0630 train. Check in is not until 4pm which is ridiculous though they very grudgingly allowed us to leave our luggage. There are so many rules and notes pinned up all over the hotel about what you cannot do in the rooms, which were unwelcoming and unnecessary. Breakfast is only served between 0730-0830 and needs to be orderd the night before so we were unable to eat it. The actual rooms were very pleasant, the shower was great and the mugs / kettle were a decent size.

Pros: Comfy, clean, shower and large kettle / mugs

Cons: Staff's attitude - we felt like an inconvience rather than guests

Location: out in the sticks, nothng to do, useless without a car

    Two nights in historic Cornwall

Good location for exploring such megalithic stone antiquities as Lanyon Quoit and Men-an-tol on foot, as well as there being a direct buses to the Geevor Tin Mine Museum and St Ives, and also bus connections to Lands End and Porthcurno. The landlady was very helpful with touristic information. Once the village pub, the accommodation was comfortable and the breakfast excellent.. The only low point was the realisation that the Fountain Inn was no longer the village pub. I had found several internet references to the old pub with evening meals service which, alas, is no more. So it was an unexpected three mile bus trip to St. Just for an evening meal. Obviously this is no problem if you have a car.

    Clean & spacious

Comfy bed, very clean room & bathroom. Hospitable hosts however do check food serving times as limited. Very quiet & whilst we were there we did not see any other customers in the pub!

    Pros: spacious clean room

    Cons: longer food serving times

a difficult place to feel welcomed

Really difficult to mark this place. Its a pub B&B ran by an older couple. my main problem was the feeling we both had, it was like being somewhere where you didnt feel like they wanted you there. I dont think we once saw the male owner smile even once, and we sat at the bar both evenings. it really made you feel unwelcomed. even when my partner tried to fix the fire alarm that went off twice, there was still no friendliness. The lady however was far more welcoming, really happy and kind. Breakfast was lovely, room was lovely, clean and comfortable.
