Pavia Vacation Packages
Pavia, in Lombardy, is a city of round and about 71,000 residents.
From here it's roughly 20 miles (32 kilometers) to the north to Milan and 55 miles (89 kilometers) to the south to Genoa.
The Pavia area is well-known for its places of worship, so take advantage of the chance to admire the numerous sites on offer. The Basilica di San Michele Maggiore and the Chiesa di Santa Maria del Carmine are two of the most photographed of these. Also make sure to visit the other picturesque religious buildings around, namely the Cathedral of Pavia and the Chiesa di San Pietro in Ciel d'Oro.
Whether you're a wine enthusiast or just enjoy the occasional glass, arrange a tour of Tenuta Ca'Boffenisio, as well as the popular Frecciarossa Estate. See the various grape varietals on the vine, sample some great local wines and cheeses, and, for that perfect souvenir, arrange to have a case or two sent home to your door.
Civic places and public squares are the perfect places to observe the rhythms of a city; Piazza della Vittoria in Pavia is one of those special places. Find a good vantage spot and spend a while watching the passing parade before heading off to explore the area’s other attractions.
Sometimes awe-inspiring, sometimes romantic, the castles and other defensive structures in this region are always excellent to photograph. When you look up at the fairytale-like fortifications of the old Visconti Castle, it’s very easy to conjure up images of how noblemen once fought for this region.
Before you leave Pavia, stop by the Certosa di Pavia and the Ponte Coperto; two of the sights which help make this city the special place it is.
