Friendly staff, great location

Pros: Friendliness, cool and up to date
Cons: Slow room service, poor lighting in bathroom
Location: Very central, lots of lovely streets to explore, musée d'Orsay 12 minute walk.
Apart from the room being a bit small it was very comfortable and clean. Shower only in bathroom and too dimly lit but otherwise fine. Very clean. Expensive but excellent breakfast.

home from home in Paris

Location: In the centre of Saint Germain des Pres near good bars, stylish shops and near the metro station so very easy to get from A to B
Great location, friendly staff, stylish decor and extremely clean room. Very welcoming and would always stay there and recommend it to friends

Strategic area but hotel Now OLD and mediocre

A great place to stay in Saint-Germain-des-Prés

Pros: Staff, decor and location.
We used to stay at the Hotel Lutetia, which we loved. As it's now under significant renovation, we needed to find a new home in Paris.The Hotel Bel Ami was recommended by the same friends who originally introduced us to Lutetia, so we were pleased to try it. The staff is quite helpful and the hotel has very nice decor. Like many European hotels, the room was smaller than we might like, there are no luggage racks (although there are drawers and a small wardrobe), and the hallways are fairly strongly fragranced, as many boutique hotels do nowadays (hope you like ylang ylang). The location is EXCELLENT, being steps from the cafes du Magot and de Flore. Note: while off the main drag, you will hear musette players at the cafes and there is a school across the street as well; so if you have a room on the front, you will hear the musicians (although not at late hours) as well as schoolkids arriving in the AM if you are on the front of the building, as well as garbage collection.
