Good tourist hotel in quiet street

Posted 31-May-2015
Pros: The efficient and friendly staff
Location: Near to Bastille opera, the Marais, Picasso museum, and masses of eateries in different price brackets.
Our second stay here - and if anything the hotel has improved. Typically small Parisian rooms, but recently refurbished to good standard. Pleasant staff. Good buffet breakfast. Very quiet, but convenient for metro. Only downside was rather stuffy atmosphere in room - but that could be improved by opening the window.

A great stay

The Hotel Bastille De Launay was a lovely little hotel for a more economic (in Paris terms) stay in a good neighborhood. The Staff were very friendly, helpful and prompt. Security was excellent as the front door was always locked and you had to turn in your key each time you exited for pick-up upon your return. Plenty of amenities and restaurants right out the door practically. I booked a single room and it was small but quite doable. My only disappointment was that Hotels.com listed it as having a tub and it did not.

Lite

Posted 26-May-2015

Tre-stjernet hotel i bedste kvalitet. Småt, men velfungerende. Rene værelser og god seng. God morgenbuffet til fair pris. God beliggenhed for shopping og cafeer. Serviceorienteret personale.

Wonderful hospitality

We made our first trip to Paris and found exceptional comfort at this lovely hotel. Things worked perfectly and the staff were uniformly gracious. The location was superb for us. A quiet place near bubbling centers of Paris.

Good hotel in a slightly off location

Posted 13-May-2015
Pros: Bed was comfortable, clean, staff were helpful, free Wall Street Journal, free electrical adapter at the front desk if needed. Airport shuttle pick up
Cons: Perhaps guest can open the main door with the room key, more room in the fridge for our drinks in addition to their mini bar items which we don't use.
Location: Some cafes and convenient stores nearby, otherwise be prepared to take at least one or two metro stations before anything is interesting.
My wife and I stayed for a week touring the major attractions of Paris. The hotel is situated in District 11 near the border with District 3. The Metro stations were within 5 minutes of walking therefore it's easy to get to most part of the city. Most of the time, we had to transfer twice on the Metro though it wasn't a major problem but a little more walking needed. The hotel is clean and the staff were helpful. Noise was acceptable though one night we've heard some drunken kids kicking things and making noise on the street one Sat night. Besides a small convenient store and a nearby café, we pretty much didn't use the local stores at all. Most of them were closed most of the time when we were there and they are for locals such as cars and motorbike sales. Most of all, the stores were pretty run down for my standard. That said, we felt comfortable walking on the street. The bed was foam type and was above average compare to State side. Though the hotel uses card keys, they want you to leave the key at the front desk when you exit the hotel and pick it up on the way it just like the olden days. Also, their main door is locked all the time and you'll have ring the bell so that the front desk will open the door for you. As they are right by the door, we didn't find this inconvenient but it's just a security setup. Overall, we still would recommend this hotel.

Decent hotel very well located

Great Area! I booked a superior room which still felt rather small, nonetheless the bed was comfortable with good quality linen. No tea/coffee tray in the room and iron/ironing board could not be delivered to the room (though I was invited to use the laundry area in the basement which had an iron). Despite the fact the hotel was full they made an effort to get my room ready for early check-in which was really appreciated. Very helpful staff. Close to the metro and walking distance to the Marais, Nortre Dame, Pompidou and more. Good breakfast available.
