A childhood friend and I decided to celebrate our 50th birthdays in Paris. We started confirming the travel plans in Sept for a Dec trip. You would think 3 months would insure the success … well, no such luck. We booked through Expedia - 1st mistake - and altogether different story. In any event, once booked & paid through Expedia, we felt it necessary to contact the hotel directly, to make sure all was in order.
Started emailing Hotel Ares Eiffel on Sept 3rd, to confirm our desired reservations/payment, etc. I collected 5 emails from Hotel Ares Eiffel - not 1 or 2 but 5!!!!… all confirming we were indeed booked for the 3 nights we needed & all was completed with our reservation. Two different people at the hotel had confirmed ALL WAS IN ORDER for our desired, 3 night stay. We were excited!!!
3 MONTHS LATER — When we arrived at the hotel to check in - the woman at the desk stated we only had 2 nights booked and they needed payment over 2 times the amount we originally paid. They admitted they made a mistake but demanded we pay the doubled amount or leave the hotel. VERY UNFAIR and disappointing!
