Small and Simple, but Great Location

Posted 05-Oct-2015
Pros: It felt clean and safe, and was wonderfully quiet when we closed the window. The front desk always had someone there to answer questions.
Cons: It would be nice if we were told we needed to order breakfast ahead of time. That was a bit of a rude surprise.
Location: Very close to the old city and a huge underground transportation hub is steps from the hotel. There are lots of shops and cafes to enjoy.
We were not expecting luxury accommodations for the price we were paying, but we were pleased to find that the room was very clean and comfortable. The windows blocked nearly all the street noise, which is important when you are staying in a lively part of the city. Parisians like to stay out very late, so a quiet room is a big plus. The bathroom was tiny, so I wouldn't recommend the hotel for people with broad frames. My husband had a bit of difficulty fitting comfortably in the shower. There is an elevator, which was also very small and we decided to use the stairs instead. However, this is a very old building in a very old part of Paris, so keep in mind how difficult it is to offer American-style hotel accommodations in this part of town. Overall, it was a nice place to stay for our last night in Europe, but I don't think I would have booked a week.

Tiny Room - Good Location

Posted 03-Oct-2015
Pros: Location. We were there for only one night wanting to be near RER B line to CDG. I would look for something bigger if there for several nights.
Cons: Only rent out the tiny rooms to a single person, just two small for two. And the wifi !
Location: Good location, might seem a bit seedy at first, but near a lot of good sites.
We must have been given the tiniest room in the hotel. This room also has the tiniest shower I've ever seen. If I dropped the soap, I would have to open the door to bend down to pick it up. The hotel also has the tiniest elevator I've ever seen, definitely a one at a time trip. There are larger rooms in the hotel, just not the one we got. The location is great, a very short walk to the RER B line to CDG, no transfers. My biggest complaint, and it's common everywhere, is the wifi, very irritating.

Great location, but lacking comfort.

Posted 19-Jul-2015
Pros: The location is very central, and will be particularly handy to the train station once the renovations to the station are completed.
Cons: Generally, the desk staff could be friendlier and more helpful. One of the three I met was fine.
Location: The location is great. The modern art museum and the seine river are only blocks away. There are also many bistros in the area.
The hotel is in a great location, close to many tourist attractions and restaurants and night life. The hotel is itself is what you would expect in a large European city for the price. However, I think the staff could generally be friendlier and more helpful. For instance, I asked one whether he recommended an attraction and he didn't respond. I also did not have any soap in my room when I checked in but did not feel comfortable asking the front desk for some. Finally, at the moment the large train station a block away is under major construction which results in the hotel being harder to find and noisy (not their fault).

Hotel bien placé

Posted 05-Jul-2015

Good central hotel

Posted 03-Jul-2015 on Hotels
PROS: - Location: VERY easy access from airports by train and SUPER well connected to metro and bus, plus very close to Ile de la Cité, Louvre, etc. We walked to a lot of places. Many restaurants as well. Note that it’s a hotel in the central area of a huge city, so you'll have lots of people around all the time, noise on the street etc. We had no problems with drunk ppl and other things you would expect, though. - Noise insulation: with the windows closed, v. quiet (but: no air-con) - Clean! - Comfortable bed - Good cost/benefit - helpful staff - French old-style décor, if you like that (or else this is a con...) CONS: - No air-con. When we were there it was 25-34ºC all the time (nights as well), but since the hotel rooms aren't facing the sun we could open the door to the balcony when we got back in the evening and leave it for a while to freshen the room, and then we managed to close it and sleep well in the silence. If you don't mind the noise, sleep with it open - Tiny elevator and tiny room, so if you have too much luggage it can be an issue. No elevator fr. entrance to reception. - No mini-fridge, so we couldn't really just buy some cheese to snack on at night.
