My husband and I were married at the Four Seasons at Disney in Orlando April 2015 so we had high expectations for the Four Seasons Costa Rica and we were not disappointed!! I mentioned on our reservation through Expedia that this was our first wedding anniversary trip and we received champagne and chocolate covered roses in our room upon arrival, champagne at lunch when our waiter just so happened to ask if we were there for a special occasion and champagne at dinner later that night as it was our actual wedding anniversary date. The food in all restaurants that we tried was excellente and delicioso!! Service was impeccable and it was the same feeling like we had in Orlando with the reply being " it was my pleasure" from anyone that assisted us. I was able to work on my Spanish while there. The scenery is beautiful and sitting on the high peninsula provided extraordinary views throughout our stay. Paddleboarding, kayaking and snorkeling are all available. There are plenty of free activities included. We tried to do the kayak at sunset but it got to be too windy and the waves were too high so we could not go as it was not safe. We signed up for others but found that we were enjoying relaxing too much to even get up. We also did the canopy tour which was frightening at the beginning but once I calmed down I really enjoyed the views of the ocean and forrest. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and really hated to leave.

We spent 4 nights during Valentines at this resort and were wowed by its design and location. From the impressive guest registration in the outdoor lobby to the rooms made with local products, this resort will definitely bring you back to Papagayo, Costa Rica. Each and every room faces the beach peninsula with large windows and a gorgeous shower that opens to the balcony overlooking the property and water. The spa was fantastic. Nestled around an abundance of trees, you will experience monkeys roaming the branches over hanging the infinity pool. For you golfers, the Four Seasons Golf Course is a MUST.

El Mangroove is a modern, beautiful property located on a very calm bay with great sunset views. The area is very peaceful - a perfect place to relax and unwind. The staff could not be nicer or more attentive. They went out of their way to entertain our kids, make sure we were comfortable and taken care of, etc. Food was delicious. I wish we could have stayed longer. It's only about 20 minutes to Liberia airport.

Had a bad experience flying by Delta, which was part of a package deal. They delayed our flight by 3 hr, we missed our connecting flight and they couldn't find a hotel to accommodate us for a night until the next available flight. Very inconsiderate service. We have to find a hotel in the middle of the night on our own, pay taxi cab, plus in the morning we found out that they did not book our connecting flight correctly. So my advise avoid Delta flights in a package deals or book your own flight.
I will start this review by saying my husband and I are first timers to Costa Rica, and first timers to an All-Inclusive resort. While we enjoyed our stay, we've come to the conclusion that all-inclusive resorts are not our thing. This is not a reflection on the Occidental Grand Papagayo, however, just our personal travel preference. Even with the small issues that did arise, they were of no fault of the staff, and the staff was always friendly, quick to help and always had a solution. The Costa Rican people are very friendly and welcoming always, they take pride in their Country, and in sharing it with others. We hope you find this review helpful.
Very friendly staff: Carlos, Noelia, David, Harry and Rueben were the best during our stay.
The property is very spacious with the buildings spread out, but there is a shuttle cart that runs around the property to take you to and from the buildings, or if you don't mind the exercise, you can walk. The resort had Wi-Fi, however it seemed to work the best in the Lobby. Our third night (of 9 nights), the Wi-Fi stopped working in our room, and wasn't fixed until four days later (while frustrating, we kept in mind we are in a third world country and their resources aren't as vast as the United States).
We had a few small issues while there, however the issues were not the fault of the staff, and the staff were very quick to find a solution. Our first room smelled like sewage, so they immediately moved us to another room and i
Stay in 2 resorts due to Allegro closing for remodeling, so moved to Occidental by resorts management, transportation provided. Great job, made event easy. Allegro & Occidental room views were great. Allegro bed hard, Occidental much more comfortable. Allegro more for family. Beaches we enjoyed both. Food both had buffet style. Disco/clubnot real much both. Biting bugs bring bug-spray! Excursions good selection we enjoy 1 all-day to rainforest while at Occidental. Not good for walking to local towns.
Papagayo is a largely untouched area on the northern Pacific coast of Costa Rica. The isolated location has historically drawn quiet crowds of bird watchers and nature enthusiasts, but in recent years Papagayo has become a popular spot for new resorts. With both tropical forests and palm-tree lined beaches, visitors have an array of outdoor activities to enjoy including swimming and hiking.
