Large room with plenty space for luggage plus desk & closet. Good bathroom with soap & shampoo. Breakfast buffet with eggs, ham/cheese, cold cereal, & lots of pastries. Friendly staff who spoke good English. Great location in Palermo next to shops and attractions.

Nice hotel convenient to most points of interest.
The staff was very nice and very helpful. Simona, the young woman that prepares and served breakfast, was delightful. The desk staff really cared that you got exactly the answer to any question. The only criticism is that coffee and soaps were not refilled when needed. Definitely recommend.

Seen better days, but good value
In the summer I think this could be more comfy; in early spring our room was cold, dark, hard to heat (seemed like 50-foot ceilings!), with a perilous step up into the bathroom. Huge room with a third bed (#306), quiet enough, two small balconies. Frugal breakfast. Good location though far from train station and somewhat seedy. You get what you pay for! Nice staff.

Very central location. There is no place to park a rental car at this hotel. There are stairs which are unavoidable for physically challenged. Mosquitoes haunted my room all night. There is a very high noise level at this hotel. Good breakfast and local restaurants that deliver nearby.

Decent hotel in good location near the Teatro Massimo. Good breakfast with a decent choice including savoury. Helpful staff. Large room. Décor in need of a little updating but nothing serious. Good value and overall a decent hotel for price. And near to pick up point for the bus to the airport at Piazza Ruggero Settimo (Politeama)

No water!
Half way during our stay there was no working water in the room. I had a friend staying with me for a few nights so I had booked a double room and the single person supplement was rather extortionate. Also, the air con dripped water. Overall, the only plus was that the wifi reception was really good.

Friendly hotel in good location
We stayed for one night on a slightly whirlwind tour round Sicily. The staff were incredibly helpful and the room was comfortable. Toiletries were on the basic side but overall a good value hotel.

Avoid this hotel
We did not have a great experience with this hotel. First off it is very old. The elevator takes roughly 10 minutes when you press the call button, the wifi didn't work, and the staff was not helpful at all. They actually led us astray quite a few times. I would recommend finding a different place to stay.

wonderful room
got upgraded to a suite. it was very nice very comfy. the staff are very friendly. the only thing is when i booked it breakfast was included but the staff said it wasnt when i checked in but at the end the breakfast wasnt charged after i contacted hotel.com. the suite was on 1st floor so it was a bit noisy but it wasnt too bad.

I guess the hotel was in an okay area, although I was only there for one night. The staff was really nice, but the room was really awful and nothing really made up for that. There were tiles loose on the floor of the room, and that is so easy to fix, but that was just left like that. The bathroom and room were clean, I think, but I couldn't really tell because of the poor upkeep. I would not stay here again, or recommend it to a friend.

Great Location!
The location was excellent for catching the ferry early in the morning (which we did!). Parking was a little tricky, but was managed with a little patience. The room was larger than most for the price. I would stay there again.

This hotel was a great deal. The rooms were cleaned every day and very comfortable. The breakfast was nice and included. Location was very convenient for all of the sites and for catching buses to the airport and the nearby beaches. Overall a great stay!

Very nice hotel with a great central location
The hotel is within very easy walking distance of the airport bus drop off at Plaza Politeama. The room we had was extremely spacious with a sitting area and everything we needed including a kettle, which is quite unusual for European hotels. It had a really nice en suite with a great shower. The reception staff were friendly and helpful Breakfasts were typical continental style but again staff very friendly and helpful. The hotel has free wifi but this wasn't accessible in our room, it wasn't much of a problem as there was a sitting area just outside it where we could receive it. This is a great place to base yourself for a city break as pretty much everything to see is within walking distance.

Great Value for Money
The hotel was right in the heart of the historical city center with easy access to the sights, eateries and transportation. Previous reviewers have complained about the hardness of the bed and I can understand why. However I use futon beds at home and find most American hotels to have uncomfortably soft beds. So I liked the hard bed they offered. The price included a pretty decent breakfast as well. No complaints.

Would definitely stay here again!
We travelled in August, so very hot. Air-conditioning a must and it worked very well in our room and was not too noisy. Room well sound-proofed with blackout. Room was clean with en suite bathroom. Staff friendly and helpful - they were quick to change the light bulb in the bathroom and happy to look after our suitcase when we checked out (we had an evening flight back). Get a return ticket on arrival at airport kiosk by the bus stop which which get you into centre of Palermo. Just work out where you need to get off and ask the driver. Beware, for some buses you buy ticket on board, but for others you must buy in advance. Public transport very cheap compared to UK and buses/ trains were reliable. Many sites tend to close for lunch, 13.00 - 15.00, so plan accordingly. Buffet breakfast was good, though coffee was not self-service!

I enjoyed my stay in Tonic hotel, rooms were clean enough, very good central location, breakfast was simple and staf fluently spoke English and were very helpful. At night could be loud because of bins cleaned every other night. Good value for money. I would recomend.

Great location!
I stayed for one week in late Jan 2013. They allow you to use the PC/internet for free...just ask. The hotel is close to the Teatro Garibaldi, shopping, tour buses, and airport bus pickup/drop off location, yet far enough away so it is not so noisy. Very clean, extra large bedrooms with sufficiently sized bathrooms. At night, if you like your room very dark, just shut all of the metal shutters and it will be pitch black! (Just the way I like it!) The desk clerks speak English and have a sign on the front desk every day to tell you what the weather will be like...very helpful in January. The breakfast is typical European...no hot food, but what is presented is very good and includes cereal, fruit, cheese and meat, along with a selection of yummy pastries. The only downside is that the lift is 5 steps up from each floor level and you need to click on the hallway lights to get to your room door. All in all, if you want a reasonably priced hotel with a great location, this is the one I'd recommend.

Location, location, location. Nice little hotel right in the middle of the nicest part of Palermo near many key sights and restaurants with a staff that tries sooo hard, not always effectively, but from their heart. The rooms, recently redone, suffer of lack of maintenance and investment. For example three rooms had showers with side jets. None worked. Still the shower was actually great with a wonderful top shower head. Also a LARGE superior room suffered from a lack of furniture (for eight days we lived out of suitcases). A daybed in our first room was broken and could not be refolded to a couch. Parking is available but not as convenient as one would like. Nevertheless this hotel is a good value because of the location, staff, and room size and recent update.

Stayed here twice at beginning and end of Sicily holiday. Arrived fairly late by air, easily found hotel only about 5 min walk from Politeama stop of airport bus. Large room, high ceiling. Hotel seems quite old though - lift is slow. Staff were friendly and helpful, providing map and suggestions for places to eat nearby. Breakfast is pretty typical Italian buffet style. The convenient location and value for money are main advantages of Hotel Tonic.

Great location but quite disappointing
Great location but desperately in need of some TLC. Room was small and dark and would benefit from a lick of paint. Bed was comfortable although it didn't look it. Bathroom was very basic and there was a lot of mould on the upper walls and ceiling. Everything else was perfectly clean. With the exception of one man on reception, staff weren't overly friendly or helpful but always polite. Breakfast was basic and disappointing given the selection available in nearby cafes.

A nice hotel, well located for seeing Palermo's sights. It was comfortable, staff were friendly and helpful; and it was excellent vaue for money. The only slight criticism was that the rooms are a little lacking in natural light. But this is a very minor point and on the whole I would definitely recommend the hotel.

Great except for the bed.
The location was great, we were able to walk everywhere. The staff was helpful, friendly and accomodating. They helped us rent a car, find food and directed us to all the sights. The room was nice, clean, had everything we needed, It was great except the bed was awful. The bed was a king matress on two twin frames with spring bases and the springs were sprung, it would have been better if they put plywood over the bases. Palermo was one of our favorite parts of our honeymoon.

We picked Hotel Tonic based on previous reviews and was not disappointed. Excellent coffee, the WiFi worked well as long as you're not in rooms far away from the lobby (we switched), and good service. The one female at the front desk was particularly helpful with recommendations and directions.

Hotel Tonic - Palermo
I quite enjoyed this hotel. We had a suite which was very large. The bed was excellent and the bathroom and amenities supplied were deluxe. Located right in the heart of Palermo, the hotel is an easy walk to pretty much everything, but that does make it a bit noisy. The staff were excellent and very helpful - they organized an early wake up call and had a cab waiting for our trip to the airport right on time. There was an issue with the in room hair dryer, but they bent over backwards to get a replacement. Overall, a very charming hotel.

Not stroller friendly but great in every other way
We found the hotel to be everything we needed for our family of five, except that it wasn't stroller friendly. There were stairs to get to the elevator, and then stairs from the elevator to the floor our room was on. The room was spacious (Klimt Suite) enough for two baby beds. Breakfast was great. The workers were very helpful and spoke excellent English.
