Lovely hotel, friendly staff, big rooms

Posted 25-Dec-2016
Pros: Everything
Cons: would have liked a full english a la carte. Getting it off the buffet meant it was a little dry.
Very unusual for the UK-friendly staff (all foreign) and big comfortable rooms. Big well equipped gym. Thought I was in the US!

Convenient family meeting place

Posted 22-Dec-2016
Pros: Warm friendly atmosphere, pleasant staff
Cons: Just a small detail. The plug in the bathroom washbasin was partially blocked with cotton wool-this had not been noticed when the cleaning was done.
Location: Not relevant on this visit
This hotel is a central meeting place for family members who live in Yorkshire, West Sussex and Swindon. We usually stay overnight and also eat in the restaurant.

Posted 14-Dec-2016
Pros: As above.
Cons: Bar menus could be a bit more varied.
Location: Good location. Great city.

Good location, quiet, but expensive

Posted 08-Dec-2016
Pros: Breakfast buffet was very good, staff friendly and helpful
Cons: Lift is confusing.
Location: A quiet location on the Abingdon Road, a fifteen minute walk to the centre of Oxford, or plenty of buses.
Five minute wait to check in. Two staff at desk, but one just ignored us, being more interested in the guest causing the holdup. Lift is confusing - have to press button 2 to get to first floor, at which point the lift announces 'second floor'. Ground floor is marked floor 1 not floor 0. This is NOT UK convention, and confuses people (not just us). Room too hot when we arrived. Thermostat set to 27.5 degrees! One set of towels only. Water pressure in shower very low and not very warm.

Nice hotel really christmassy. Mulled wine was fab

Posted 05-Dec-2016
We came back from day out & could smell smoke in our room (neither of us smoke). Manager was brilliant she had us moved with 10 minutes & upgraded us for inconvenience. My only negative would be, staff are not particularly friendly.

Room lovely, staff helpful. Breakfast looked lovely but the full English was cold, eggs rubbery, mushrooms cold & meats only just warm. Fire alarm went off at 3am and just a note pushed under our door at 7am after a disrupted night's sleep.

What's not to like?

Posted 01-Nov-2016
Pros: Easy access & parking, quiet location, good breakfast.
Cons: Breakfast would have been even better if the wait staff had been a bit more cheerful!
Location: A pleasant stroll along the river bank into the centre of Oxford.

An average hotel but expensive. Disappointing!

Posted 22-Oct-2016
At the price I expected something a bit more luxurious. It was adequate but I wouldn't go again. It was convenient for the city.
