Modest motel on a busy road.

Posted 18-Aug-2015
Most rooms are buffered from road noise by A/C unit and configuration and have windows facing the water. We had no interaction with any staff. Rooms are attractively decorated and clean.

Hotel on the causeway to Nags Head

Posted 12-Aug-2015
Our stay here was good with some explanation. The facility is definitely dated. The main part of the room was fine, but the bathroom needs repair and/or updating. The finish in the bathtub is peeled and the other bathroom amenities were dated as well. The bed was very noisy just to lay on and tended to be worn. Now the positive, the location was great in that you aren't right on the beach, but you were very near by with plenty of areas for public parking and beach walk on access. The area is bountiful with places to eat and things to do. For us, we'd recommend Kelly's Restaraunt and Tavern, as well as the 11 O'Clock Restaraunt. Also take the time to see The Lost Colony play. We had an issue where our A/C stopped working and the young lady working there, promptly called the maintenance people and they had it working in a timely manner. They are not on site full time due to the small size of the facility, I presume. The A/C only needed to have the power plug reset in our case. The location of the facility is on the sound, and other than the expected fishy smell, it was very nice to sit out in the dock. The price was a high for the dated rooms, but with a small investment in the rooms this would be a very good value.

Don't stay here Nothing is what it seems

Room smelled of mildew. My dog found popcorn under the bed. Dead fly in window. I complained and got moved to a room that was at least vacuumed but you could still smell the mildew. Sometimes older places are great but this one isn't I have pictures of a yucky bathroom growing mold

Cons: Communication between Expedia & Motel chain
I don't know if this was the motel's fault or Expedia's fault, but I booked and paid for a room with two queen beds and received a room with one queen bed. Couldn't change rooms because the motel was completely booked for the period I was staying. The difference in cost was about $10 a night.

Disappointment weekend

Posted 21-Oct-2014
Pros: It was on the water.
Cons: Motel should be updated and if you are not going to get a bay view, you should be told.
Location: Centrally located at 158 and 12, makes it easy to go in either direction.
We were expecting a bayview and only saw the parking lot. The room was small, but ok; however there was caked dirt on the dresser, and rust all over the shower head. Constanly heard the traffic going by.

the room we were originally suppose to be in was being worked on. they moved us to a 2 bed 2 bath kitchenette unit which was very nice. the back looked out on the sound side of the island. the only complaint my husband and I had was that the room smelled really musty when closed up, and the building itself could use a little TLC,we left the windows open the entire time we were there. We were lucky that we had great weather the whole time, definitely a place we would consider again

They painted the tub with regular wall paint. I left my email with Hotels.com and asked for a cot in each room but neither message was relayed to the Fin N Feather Staff.
