Pleased with choice of pousada
Excellent stay. Only one night but we would have enjoyed a longer stay. Staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Bed was comfortable, rooms and bathroom clean, and public spaces were appealing. The pousada was easy to find soon after entry into Ouro Preto. It is not in the middle of town but the walk was fine for us. If you go, be sure to walk to town at least once by going out the pousada and to the left. Don't always use the main road.

Real gem in Ouro Preto
Overall a very good stay with good service in a cozy hotel just outside the town centre madness. Great shuttle service into old town running until 22.30 who also pick you up quickly to drive you back after calling the hotel (10-15min). Can't compete with a luxury high-end hotel but service equality good and win the cozyness competiton every day and you don't go to Ouro Preto to stay in a top-end luxury hotel. Great lobby, great common areas with fireplace and a traditional English touch to it. Fantastic free afternoon tea. Would stay here again if I get to visit Ouro Preto again in the future. For thosw who drive, the hotel has private parking for maybe 15 cars or so which is great when traveling with car like we did. And airconditon and beds are great.

Wonderful staff. My friend had bought a new camera and had no idea how to use it. The whole team at Reception went out of their way to assist her to get her camera working. Very nice, romantic hotel with nice rooms and excellent breakfast. I also appreciated their 5 o'clock tea with cakes.

Romantic and quaint inn with a historical feel.
There was a sign on the main street indicating where the hotel was. We proceeded down a quaint but steep cobblestone street and were greeted immediately by staff, who took our bags and parked our car for us in the inn's private lot. Check-in was easy despite the language barrier and staff couldn't have been friendlier. Our room had arched doorways, wood paneled ceilings and double door windows overlooking the valley. We loved the sounds of roosters and barking dogs in the morning when we opened our windows. The roads are steep in Ouro Preto, so maybe not for everyone, but we enjoyed exploring the town by foot and the challenges that posed. The walk was about 10 minutes to the central square, but there was a shuttle provided by the hotel if we preferred. Morning breakfast was wonderful--good coffee, lots of fruit, and LOTS of bread choices!! The public spaces of the inn were well furnished and interesting, especially the glass-topped table with many minerals and gem stones on display. We really enjoyed our stay and would go back again if we ever visit Ouro Preto in the future.

Beautiful Hotel. A little Bit off the beaten path and a short car ride to the city center but the hotel was gorgeous inside, rustic looking. Staff was so unbeleavabily great and helpful. Anything you need they provide. Snacks were put out late afternoon. A bus is available for guests with 15 minutes notice of trip. All in all a great place to stay when enjoying Ouro Preto!

Very good hotel in Ouro Preto. Extremely helpful staff helped us with everything (meal suggestions, what to see, etc). There's a van service to take guests to the city center. It's a 3-5 minute ride but critical because of the elevation of the town. Very good breakfast too.

Stylish hotel in beautiful Ouro Preto
The hotel staff are wonderfully hospitable and welcoming. Great value for the price. Large rooms. Perched on a hill, the hotel offers great views and is in walking distance from all the important cultural sites. Free shuttle service to the city center. Copious breakfast included!

Top notch!!!
Can't rate this hotel highly enough. It's old colonial, genteel with afternoon tea and a piano player. The staff is so helpful, nothing is too much trouble. Ouro Preto is well worth a visit and you won't do better than this little Pousada! The shuttle bus is a boon as the town is very hilly.

Conveniently located for car travellers
Since I arrived Ouro Preto by car, and parking in the narrow streets of the historic city is very difficult, I was very happy to be able to leave the car parked at Pousada do Arcanjo and use the van service to and from the main square (Praça Tiradentes) in Ouro Preto, just a few minutes away.

Charming hotel.
Great place to stay above the city. Free shuttle to town. Incredible staff. Off street parking. Charming hotel that matches the city. If you are using a Garmin GPS to navigate, ignore it when you get into the city or you be lead to streets no car can get up.

Appealing hotel
I very much enjoyed staying at the Pousado do Arcanjo. The property is attractive and has a lot of nice traditional touches. The staff was friendly and willing to fight through their imperfect English (and my worse Portuguese). My room was large, as was the bathroom. The mini-bar was stocked with some interesting local items. WiFi worked great. The bed and bedding were a little dated, but not a problem. I liked the location of the hotel, an easy walk from the bus station--and importantly in Ouro Preto--with little change in elevation if you are carrying your bag. The hotel offers a complimentary van to the bus station or town center, but I never used it. The walk to the center takes about 15 minutes and is downhill. (The uphill walk back wasn't too taxing, I found, although Ouro Preto has some VERY steep climbs and descents). Breakfast at the hotel was great. My favorite thing about the hotel is the complimentary afternoon tea, served from 5 pm to 7 pm, replete with tasty cakes and snacks. A nice break before dinner after a long day of touring up and down the local hillsides.

The hotel was very nice. The staff was very helpful and friendly. It is located a little bit outside the center, but they offered a free shuttle until 2300 so it was not an issue. Breakfast was good, everything clean and it is in a quiet neighborhood. Free parking in the back yard of the hotel. We used the GPS to get to the hotel. Don't do that as it takes you over some really steep hills and through some really bumpy roads. Best way is to take the main road into the city and shorty before you arrive to the main sqaure there is a sign for the hotel.

We traveled to Ouro Preto for the weekend but had reservations with months in advance. Pousada do Arcanjo is a great place to stay, the staff is very helpful and kind, and the accommodations are outstanding.

Beautiful, quaint colonial style hotel.
Some of the staff spoke English and was helpful providing directions and information about places we wanted to visit. We hung out in the lobby and there are useful and interesting reading materials available to read about the town. Great stay. Breakfast buffet was plentiful.

Passamos um final de semana encantador! A equipe é extremamente atenciosa e faz de tudo para nos proporcionar uma experiência agradável e acolhedora. Era meu aniversário e no café da manhã fui agraciada com um delicioso bolo de parabéns. Fiquei muito feliz com o gesto atencioso. Ha um serviço de van que nos leva e busca até a praça principal para evitar deslocamentos com o próprio carro. Recomendo a hospedagem no Arcanjo!

Café da manhã maravilhoso com muitas variedades. Hotel bonito e confortável, atendimento excelente, localização ótima, cortesia de Transfer para o centro histórico. O que é horrível no hotel é o chuveiro porque a água não esquenta de jeito nenhum, mesmo reclamando não tomaram providências. No quarto do casal colocaram 2 camas de solteiro juntas, bem estranho.

Pontos positivos: atendimento excepcional; camas confortáveis; café da manhã repetitivo, mas com boa variedade; disponibilidade de transporte pelo hotel para levar os hóspedes ao centro; chá da tarde agradável. Pontos negativos: limpeza ineficiente, o que ficar de sujeira no ralo vai permanecer lá durante toda estadia; quartos empoeirados; quarto triplo pequeno; a internet simplesmente não funciona; os canais da SKY são super limitados; banheiro com cortina suja no lugar do box que fica grudando na pessoa na hora do banho; compartimento do chuveiro extremamente pequeno o que dificulta até se mover; hotel longe do centro e dos atrativos turísticos; o suporte do papel higiênico foi colocado numa posição terrível para o uso e o papel se despedaça todo. Resumindo: O hotel é bom, mas não vale o preço tão elevado da diária.

Falhas humanas podem acontecer e estamos verificando junto à equipe o que ocorreu. Pedimos-lhe desculpas.Igualmente, pelo caso da internet. Ela chega por fibra ótica e falhas não são frequentes. Porém, se algum hóspede notifica nossa equipe, prontamente tentamos investigar e corrigir. Mas, não recebemos nenhuma reclamação no período em que esteve conosco.Quanto ao box do banheiro, realmente optamos por não usar os conhecidos blindex por uma questão de segurança dos hóspedes. Esses vidros podem quebrar por choque térmico com consequências desastrosas para o corpo humano desprotegido. Na construção do hotel foi seguido um padrão observado em muitos hotéis internacionais.Com relação à nossa distância das ruas mais centrais, estamos a apenas 900m da praça Tiradentes e dos principais atrativos. Esta informação é disponibilizada em nossos canais de reservas. E temos a disponibilidade do transporte cortesia como foi mencionado.Já sobre o papel higiênico, estamos em processo de troca do produto incluindo o suporte, pois já havíamos identificado a queda da qualidade do papel pelo nosso fornecedor. E a substituição ainda não havia sido realizada em todos os aposentos do hotel, como foi o caso. Agradecemos pela sua correta observação e lamentamos também por este incômodo causado.Temos certeza de que esses transtornos foram pontuais e não correspondem ao nosso histórico padrão de qualidade, bastando conferir as opiniões positivas e as avaliações da quase totalidade dos nossos clientes. Simpática Acolhida

Uma hospedagem deliciosa ! Super bem recebidos ! Conseguimos até pedir uma sopinha por telefone e ao chegarmos na pousada , depois de um evento longo e com muito frio … a sopinha quente e uma taça de vinho foi um conforto em nossa hospedagem. Adoramos tb o chá da tarde ! Que nos salvou … pois o evento que gomis começou as 18h e terminou 22:30h. O chá segurou nossa fome rsrsrs
