Ouray Ice Climbing Trip

Posted 25-Jan-2016
Pros: The price attracted us but it's also right in the middle of town making it easy access to everything. It also had an excellent breakfast.
Cons: Maybe a little more insulation but it truly wasn't bad.
Location: It's right in the middle of town making it super easy to walk to restaurants and up to the Ouray Ice Park.
The room was surprisingly clean and roomy. Our bed and pillows were comfortable. The shower was awesome. The water pressure was really good and the shower head had many options, including a nice massage function. The breakfast was great. Even the local police stopped by to sit and have breakfast with the office staff. I believe our hotel had the best free breakfast in town. Our friends stayed at the Box Canyon Hotel for a much higher price and they said their breakfast was horrible. We had fresh eggs, sausage, waffles, oatmeal, juices, yogurt, coffee, cereal and a wide variety of breads and pastries. We will stay here again next time we're in town.

Ouray Comfort Inn - good for families and getaways

Posted 03-Jan-2016
Pros: Big size rooms, clean and comfortable surroundings. Everything was in working order and the staff made our stay very enjoyable.
Cons: One of our beds was a bit lump and sank in the middle. The kids used it though and they had no problem with it. Offer some herbal teas, please!
Location: Awesome location: near Box Canyon, Main St, day hikes around town, and all restaurants, cafes and breweries. Offers a good base to explore the area
My family (2 kids/ 2 adults) recently stayed at Ouray Comfort Inn for nearly a week. It's located in the heart of Ouray and within walking distances to all town highlights -- walks, hikes, Box Canyon, restaurants and cafes. It's a very nice family friendly hotel with ample room to spread out and enjoy mountain time. They have a pretty nice breakfast that has something for all tastes -- eggs, sausages, waffles, pancakes, fresh biscuits, yogurt and fruit and oatmeal/ cereals. They have a hot tub that seems new, and is not overly chlorinated, like some hot tubs, and it's very relaxing, too. Beds are big and comfortable, and the rooms are kept clean and in good condition. Bedding is clean and in good order. It's a reliable choice and one that is quite affordable. The staff are kind and I was most impressed by their hot, fresh cookies in the afternoon. It was a nice touch. Ouray Comfort Inn offers up a nice modest hotel for people looking for to spend some time in one of the most wonderful small mountain communities Colorado has to offer.

Beautiful surrounding views. Very pleasant staff. Slow night, staff upgraded our room without charge to get us a more accessible room with 5" of new snow.

Best Hotel In Ouray

Posted 15-Nov-2014
After looking around Ouray, I am so glad we stayed at this hotel. Very clean large comfortable rooms. Ouray itself is over rated and I will not be stopping here again

Pros: The location is convenient to shopping and restaurants. The staff was very friendly.
Cons: The mattresses need replaced. The ice machine should be moved to the ground level. More variety with breakfast.
Location: This hotel is in Ouray which is centrally located for the many little towns in southwestern Colorado. Lots of beautiful scenery surrounding.
The staff at this hotel were very nice and helpful when we checked in. We had requested through Expedia for a first floor room, but when we got to the hotel, they had us booked for a 2nd floor room. I had printed out my confirmation with the request on it and so they re-arranged things and honored our request even though that request hadn't made it to them from Expedia. We were disappointed with the breakfast. We had stayed in a different Comfort Inn a couple months ago and they had a better variety from day to day. The breakfast here was the same each day and the fruit bowls were usually empty, even though we went at different times each morning (we were there 6 nights.) They did have cereal in addition to the eggs, sausage and gravy, but for someone like me who is lactose intolerant, it was limiting. I would love for a hotel to offer lactose free milk, but that may be a little much to expect. The other problem was the bed. We had had good experience with beds in other Comfort Inns, but these beds were not at all comfortable, they were VERY hard. My experience lately has been that many hotels have pillow top mattresses, but this one does not. This hotel is not handicap friendly at all since the ice machine and vending machines are in a basement level room under the office.

road trip

Posted 11-Oct-2014
Pros: loved it quiet and located in a good location.
My best friend and I was coming through and found this motel/hotel. It was very clean and the help were very friendly, which counts being from the south. Dog friendly that's a must! Breakfast was good and a lot to chose from. Beds were very comfortable. I would say check this place out!
