I didn't spend long in this hotel due to a change of plans but it struck me as a very nice hotel in a terrible location. It was the middle of the day when I came and went but it was obvious that the neighbourhood would not be pleasant at night time. Obviously this isn't something the hotel can fix but it's a shame because the building itself is great.
I was a day late arriving to the hotel and because of booking through Expedia with a non-changeable reservation I couldn't get in touch with the hotel to let them know. Even so they kept my reservation open and let me know it would stay open until I was meant to book out just in case I was able to stay longer. I wasn't able to do this but I certainly appreciated the gesture.
The staff were friendly, the room was clean and comfortable with all the amenities provided. The only negative thing I would be inclined to mention (except for location) is that the balcony door didn't lock but unless Spider-Man was in the habit of looting hotel rooms this probably wouldn't have been an issue as my room was quite high up.
Because of the neighbourhood I wouldn't recommend this hotel to someone travelling solo and planning to go back to the hotel at night but if you fall outside of this it's worth looking at.
Lovely stay in this hotel, good location near station and attractions. Had slight issue with leak in room but staff came straight away and sorted problem quickly. Good choice for breakfast and the double room was much bigger than expected. Would definitely stay again
Very nice hotel with new lobby and refurbished rooms. Our first room had a non-functioning A/C. Hotel staff was there within two minutes to fix it. Unfortunately they couldn't, so they called the lobby to get us a new room, went and got the key, and took us to an upgraded room. It was a pain, but the staff was incredibly professional and accommodating. Breakfast buffet was awesome and quickly restocked even though very busy. Wifi has to be paid for unless you want to go to the lobby. I bought one day (two devices) and the wifi was very fast. We drank wine and streamed videos. The only downsides are noise, the walls, windows, and floors dont block much; and the upstairs restaurant, Olive Garden. We stopped in for an evening drink. I told the host that we'd like some drinks, and asked where we could sit. I picked a spot outside with a great view. We sat out there for 15 minutes appreciating the view without being served. Then we left. Otherwise the hotel itself is great, but other than the free buffet, I would eat outside at one of the many cafes, restaurants, bakeries, and souvlaki joints.
I used to hotel for a 2 night stay. The hotel is close to Omonia subway and on a central road so my trip from the airport was fast and I felt safe. The hotel staff were very helpful and friendly, and also had a great sense of humor. The room super clean, although mattress was a bit too hard for my liking. Breakfast buffer was satisfying.
I needed a hotel for one night while I waited for an airport connection, and the Alassia fit the bill. Clean, comfortable, and centrally located (off Omonia Square, 5 min. walk to the subway station with connections to the airport and all of the attractions in central Athens). Hotel staff were kind and accomodating, and I even arrived early before the 2:00 PM check-in time and the room was ready. Continental breakfast was included, and was pretty good. It's not super fancy, but was exactly what I needed and for the price, you can't beat it. The location, while convenient, is in kind of a seedy part of town but I still felt safe. It's within walkable distance to all the main tourist attractions in Athens as well. Great deal for the money, as long as you're not into super fancy amenities (room service, etc.). Definitely recommend!
This is an excellent value for money choice in Athens. Close to the metro so access to Syntagma Square and the Plaka and Monesteraki areas is easy. Without doubt the best thing at the hotel is the wonderful lady at check in who was always smiling and helpful. The continental breakfast at 5 euros was also very good.
In the city centre, Omonia Square is a busy traffic node, where six major roads meet. There is also a metro station. It is home to several large modern hotels, popular with tour groups, and is close to the National Archaeological Museum and the Central Market. Crowds traditionally gather here to celebrate national sporting victories.
