Convenient hotel with excellent restaurant.

Posted 19-Aug-2017
Pros: Not too big, very conveniently located, friendly and welcoming.
Cons: Some of the decor is a bit old fashioned.
Location: Lots to see and do as all the old Riga attractions are within walking distance.
Radi un Draugi is a small traditional hotel with an excellent restaurant conveniently located in the old part of Riga. The staff are most helpful and polite. Though the area is a bit noisy, the room was double glazed and had air conditioning.

Central location, friendly staff, good value

Posted 21-May-2017 on Hotels
A pleasant hotel with helpful staff in a convenient location. 4 stars is a bit optimistic but a solid 3.5. My single room was on the seventh floor but the elevator only goes to the 6th. The sloping roof space meant a risk of bashing your head. The 2 velux windows hardly opened to let in air so the aircon was need to take a few degrees off the heat. The metal room keys is a rather low tech insecure system now. My room had a desk, a minibar and an easy chair. Bathroom was fine with shower and ample hot water. This is 4 star hotel stuff. The wifi measured over 20mb upload and download. Brilliant for FaceTime. Breakfast was adequate with enough choice to amuse over a short stay. It tasted like the orange juice was cheap orange drink rather than something made from concentrate. This was ghastly and spoils the effort the management seems to make. I got a welcome drink voucher at reception but didn't have time to use it. Yes I enjoyed my stay and will book again for the friendly staff and location. Just dump the OJ - Management ...it isn't worth saving €'s here.

Perfect hotel for a city break.

Posted 08-May-2017
We were in Riga for a wedding and it could not have gone better. We were contacted before our arrival offering a transfer, which took the stress out of finding a taxi and pinning down exactly where we were heading. Centrally located in the old town gave us the opportunity to really experience the city with real ease and there is plenty on offer. The staff were very helpful and welcoming at all times of the day. The restaurant attached to the hotel is very good, especially helped with 20% off for being guests of the hotel. It offers a range of food, including Latvian options which were lovely. The room was spacious and well maintained. My only comments would be that the curtains are a little thin, letting through a lot of light in the morning. And that the fridge in the room made some strange noises meaning you were occasionally woken with a knock or hiss through the night. We would definitely stay here again.
