Fantastic atmosphere, friendly staff, great location near to Princetown where we hired some bikes. Food was also great.

If you need to stop on South Brent you should choose the Oak hotel. A B&B would be cheaper but the Oak has a cheery bar with good real ales. Room was clean and nice, with a good en-suit. Nothing wrong with it!

The hotel is gorgeous - the grounds, the interior, the location The only problem is that, once there, there is really no choice other than to eat in the restaurant. The food is pretentious and "cheffy". We had to search hard for the piece of lobster and it was covered in blobs of different coloured liquids, all with little taste. In order to fill up we had to ask for extra bread and a supplementary cheese plate. The haddock at breakfast was trendily undercooked and therefore lukewarm and the egg tasted of the vinegar in the poaching water. We had just spent 2 nights at Rick Stein's Seafood Restaurant where the food is delicious and varied, the portions copious and there are more than 2 inches of wine in the glasses. The hotel is well worth a visit but take a picnic hamper.

Thorne Park is a farm just on the outskirts of Holsworthy ..... A lovely peaceful setting, and I was able to enjoy a beautiful starlit sky without any of the usual light pollution. The room itself was perfect - set on the ground floor and with its own entrance, and having everything you would want to find. Beautifully decorated and furnished, and very warm with underfloor heating. The bed was comfy and I had a very good night's sleep. Breakfast was taken in the main house. There was a very varied choice of cereals and the cooked option was done to perfection. I recommend Thorne Park, and will certainly stay there again.

Really nice hotel in a small village. Plenty of parking and with the hotel pub across the car park and a restaurant you have plenty of choices of meals. I booked a single room, the bed was pretty much a double with a well lit large bathroom. Breakfast was lovely and I would fully recommend this hotel to anyone - especially if you are on businesa.

Like any stately home, it's a beautiful building on some impressive grounds. Everything was available during our stay, it's a shame that there is no golf for novices. However archery, air rifle and clay shooting where enjoyed by my 11 year old. The instructors are excellent, well informed and professional. Indoor pool was good, it's a shame personal hygiene isn't high on some of the guests agendas. Food was good in both restaurants, if staying here for more than a few days it can get a bit samey. Bar is well stocked with whiskey, gin and vodka. Also a decent wine collection. If you have dogs, they'll love it here. I'd definitely come again if there was a special offer.
