I have stayed twice at Chantico Inn, each time with a young grandchild. Both times the manager, Debbie, went way out of her way to make certain that the child and I were comfortable and all of our needs were met. Her friendliness and accommodations made our stay fun for the kids and relaxing for me. From the table and chairs on the patio where we picnicked, to the jacuzzi tub that made bath time an adventure, to the rustic antique furnishings, Chantico is a refreshing change from the usual, cookie-cutter motel room but still at a reasonable price.
My husband and I recently stayed here for my birthday getaway. It is a mile or two before the town of Ojai which was great for us as it provided a quiet setting. The grounds are beautiful and each "unit" is unique with its own patio. Nice mature oaks and great lighting at night. Felt like being in New Mexico as it was very hip with great artsy touches throughout. Gabriella at the front desk was super and went out of her way to make us feel comfortable. Spacious comfy rooms with nice bedding. Breakfast in the am was decent and we really relaxed and enjoyed the scenery. The town of Ojai is just "mej" but the Blue Iguana made the trip worth it!
We had never stayed in Ojai before, though I grew up just north in Santa Barbara. Was not familiar with The Capri, and relied solely on reviews on this website. It is an older motel, with a nice shot of fantasy deco (from a vinyl record player with a couple of demo albums - Soft Cell and Adam and the Ants - from the late 70's.), and some crazy color combinations (lime green and yellow). But the room was clean and bed very comfortable. And the price for the room was great.

This Motel was really lovely - for the price I have not stayed in one this good previously (and I stay in a lot). The staff were super helpful and the room was clean and comfortable - I would definitely stay here again.
Enclosed by mountains and hills, the village, as locals call it, is Ventura County’s smallest city at 4.2 square miles. Ojai Avenue features boutiques, galleries, and restaurants, including an especially dense block known as The Arcade. Libbey Park, in the middle of downtown, hosts the Ojai Music Festival each year. Adjacent to the park is the city’s iconic Spanish-style bell tower.
