(The oldest in Rutland apparently) Curtains and Austrian blinds are all hand made from Chinese silk. With its own entrance accessed from the street by a short flight of steps down, regrettably it is not really suitable for wheelchair users. Internally the stairs to access upstairs are narrow and the garden has steep steps down. We have been welcoming guests to No4 since 2016 and have Superhost status on another hosting platform. A key safe on the front wall means you can access No4 on arrival without asking for the key. I will give you the code to open it after you book. I will also give detailed instructions as to where to find us before you arrive. We are in a quiet Cul-De-Sac, a little off the main drag but still in easy walking distance of the Town Centre (5 minutes) Central heating throughout as well as a log burner which will make any winter visit very cosy and comfortable. It has a kitchen with sink, electric cooker, microwave and fridge freezer and ground floor sitting room with Futon which sleeps 1 adult comfortably. The TV has Freeview and a built in DVD player with a large collection of DVD's available to watch. The first floor has a fully-tiled bathroom with spacious shower and a comfortable double bedroom with double bed (sleeps 2) and Wardrobe. Outside, the garden has 4 terraces, one with a pond,(so children must be supervised at all times) with fish and extensive country views of open fields across the valley. Planting has been done to maximise each season. Apple trees form the hedge on the west side and you are welcome to try any when in season (usually in September). We live next door and grow vegetables in a small plot at the bottom of the garden and again you are welcome to use any which are in season for your cooking. ## Property amenities ### Internet - Available in the cottage: Free WiFi ### Parking and transport - Car required ### Kitchen - Cookware, dishware, and utensils - Electric kettle - Hob - Microwave - Oven - Paper towels - Refrigerator - Spices - Toaster ### Bedrooms - Bedroom - Bedsheets provided ### Bathroom - 1 bathroom - Hair dryer - Shower - Soap - Toilet paper - Towels provided ### Living spaces - Fireplace - Living room - Wood stove ### Entertainment - Books - DVD player - Games - TV - Video library ### Outdoor areas - Garden - Patio ### Work spaces - Desk ### Comfort - Heating ### Pets - No pets allowed ### Suitability/Accessibility - If you have requests for specific accessibility needs, please contact the property using the information on the reservation confirmation received after booking. - In-room accessibility - Tile flooring in public areas - Smoke-free property ### Services and conveniences - Iron/ironing board ### Location highlights - In a rural location ### Things to do - Birdwatching nearby - Cycling nearby - Fishing nearby - Golfing nearby - Hiking/biking trails nearby - Horseback riding nearby - Motor boating nearby - Sailing nearby - Swimming nearby - Windsurfing nearby ### Safety features - Carbon monoxide detector (host has indicated there is a carbon monoxide detector on the property) - Smoke detector (host has indicated there is a smoke detector on the property) - Fire extinguisher - Deadbolt lock ### General - Garden - Property does not allow children ## Similar properties ![Exterior](https://images.trvl-media.com/lodging/99000000/98280000/98272700/98272641/5db3466d.jpg?impolicy=fcrop&w=469&h=201&p=1&q=medium) ### Modern Peaceful Open Plan 1-Bed Apartment Rutland Rutland - Kitchen - Washing machine - Pet-friendly - Outdoor space £143 includes taxes & fees 4 Jan - 5 Jan 2026 [](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Hotel-Search?startDate=2026-01-04&endDate=2026-01-05&selected=98272641&PinnedHotelID=98272641&HadPinnedHotel=true®ionId=-1&adults=2) ![Exterior](https://images.trvl-media.com/lodging/88000000/87850000/87847200/87847172/f00d9b6e.jpg?impolicy=fcrop&w=469&h=201&p=1&q=medium) ### Rustic charm, king bed, en-suite, wi-fi, parking Caldecott 5.0 2 reviews [](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Hotel-Search?startDate=2026-01-14&endDate=2026-01-15&selected=87847172&PinnedHotelID=87847172&HadPinnedHotel=true®ionId=-1&adults=2) ![Studio | Exterior](https://images.trvl-media.com/lodging/100000000/99440000/99438200/99438159/0454f28a.jpg?impolicy=fcrop&w=469&h=201&p=1&q=medium) ### Relaxing Room With Ensuite Rutland Point Oakham - Kitchen - Pet-friendly - Parking included - Free Wi-Fi 7.4 Good 3 reviews £62 includes taxes & fees 8 Jan - 9 Jan 2026 [](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Hotel-Search?startDate=2026-01-08&endDate=2026-01-09&selected=99438159&PinnedHotelID=99438159&HadPinnedHotel=true®ionId=-1&adults=2) ![Studio | Exterior](https://images.trvl-media.com/lodging/100000000/99290000/99286300/99286212/a0be929e.jpg?impolicy=fcrop&w=469&h=201&p=1&q=medium) ### Relaxing Room With Ensuite Rutland Point Oakham - Kitchen - Pet-friendly - Parking included - Free Wi-Fi 9.0 Wonderful 2 reviews £68 includes taxes & fees 5 Jan - 6 Jan 2026 [](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Hotel-Search?startDate=2026-01-05&endDate=2026-01-06&selected=99286212&PinnedHotelID=99286212&HadPinnedHotel=true®ionId=-1&adults=2) ![Breakfast, lunch, dinner served; international cuisine ](https://images.trvl-media.com/lodging/1000000/430000/423600/423521/9fdddeb0.jpg?impolicy=fcrop&w=469&h=201&p=1&q=medium) ### voco Rockingham Forest Corby by IHG Corby - Parking included - Free Wi-Fi - Restaurant - Breakfast available 8.0 Very good 367 reviews £68 includes taxes & fees 9 Jan - 10 Jan 2026 [](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Hotel-Search?startDate=2026-01-09&endDate=2026-01-10&selected=423521&PinnedHotelID=423521&HadPinnedHotel=true®ionId=-1&adults=2) ![Classic Triple Room | Desk, free WiFi](https://images.trvl-media.com/lodging/108000000/107480000/107479500/107479459/f3eec5da.jpg?impolicy=fcrop&w=469&h=201&p=1&q=medium) ### The Wyken Inn Coventry - Parking included - Free Wi-Fi - Breakfast available - Housekeeping 8.6 Excellent 103 reviews [](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Hotel-Search?startDate=2026-01-14&endDate=2026-01-15&selected=107479459&PinnedHotelID=107479459&HadPinnedHotel=true®ionId=-1&adults=2) ## Policies ### Check-in Check-in time starts at 3:00 PM Minimum check-in age - 25 ### Check-out Check-out before 10:00 AM ### Special check-in instructions You will receive an email from the host with check-in and check-out instructions Information provided by the property may be translated using automated translation tools ### Rules Number 4 is in a quiet residential street and I would ask you to be considerate to the neighbours. Great that the cricket field was close for morning dog walks. Friendly owner next door. Only drawback was the micro cooker when we tried to do Xmas dinner! But fine for simple cooking. Would definitely come back. ##### Sue J. Wonderfully accommodating landlord. Apartment was tidy and clean. Difficult parking but it was possible. ##### Lowell W. Everything was spotless, and comfortable, and became home away from home for us. The cottage is a short walk to the Co-op grocery store, and Uppingham has a better variety of places to eat and coffee shops than we had expected. Juanzie and Marc were most welcoming and accommodating. Juanzie is a wonderful gardener, and shared her strawberries and veggies with us. We were lucky enough to be in town to participate in the open garden tour and the Uppingham feast day, which were lots of fun. I would encourage Juanzie to open her garden next year. It is very pretty. ##### David K.
