An excellent hotel

Pros: Spaciousness for a budget hotel.
Cons: We couldn't get the DVD player to work.
Location: Excellent location, unless you are a high end tourist. A few blocks from Ala Moana shopping center, just a hope skip and jump from the beaches.
The Pagoda is a little ways away from the "action" at Waikiki, which made it excellent for our purposes (I am a local from the Big Island and was recovering from a medical procedure). Staff was friendly and efficient, rooms were clean and more spacious than expected, bathroom and shower facilities were also really excellent. The price was also right, compared to what you get for your dollar in the Waikiki area. We would definitely stay here again, preferably without the medical procedure part. A hidden gem.

Good room with lots of noise from outside and rattly air conditioner. Friendly staff. Fun restaurant. Good, central location. Good value. The locals realize this!

Okay for what it was...shoulder shrug.

It took forever before someone finally helped me at the front desk. Then I was bombarded with a hotel deposit that takes 7 business days to be returned if you used a card. Paying the deposit was not an issue, it was being caught off guard that irked me. There was no visible notation about it nor was there anything in my confirmation either. Everything else was okay. I guess. For what it was, you got decent. If this hotel was the only option, I guess you'll be alright.

Away from Waikiki

Pros: It's really close to Don Quiote and there are many food and shopping places very close by, even walking distance.
Cons: Alarm clock worked BUT buttons were sticky so it took me a while to set alarm. Need outlets available at night stand for charging cellphones/tablets.
Location: Location is the very reason I booked at this hotel. Nice to see variety of places to eat. Sushi place near by was really good.
It's been years since I stayed at Pagoda. It is an older hotel, definitely not a 5 star hotel but I like that its is not in the heart of Waikiki. Easy in and out. The rooms are outdated, bathroom is old, carpet is old. Love that the beds do not have those comforters that we all know doesn't get washed often at any hotel. The staff was nice, friendly and helpful.

Needs to be updated. Shower did not work, but maintenance did come right away to fix. Noise from others around was loud.

Run down, noisy doors, AC broken

I loved the staff. They were the best part of my trip. The room itself was very outdated. The bathroom shower head was extremely clogged. It had a lot of calcium and lime build up. The carpet was disgusting. The bed although it was clean, it was very uncomfortable. I'm not expecting a tempurapedic mattress, but perhaps something other than a lumpy mattress. The AC sounded like it was on its last leg and it couldn't get the room cooled down. The doors were really noisy. I could hear ever door open or close on my floor. I woke up from sleep each time someone would leave their room.

I have no qualms about recommending this hotel

Pros: It is close to Queen's hospital and I had to be there to assist a relative
Cons: Kinda funny, they forgot to check the frig, the previous occupant left me 6 beers, a 1/2 gallon of pog, some mountain dew, etc.- I didn't drink any.
I have heard that it's level of appeal had been declining but that it has recently undergone a renovation. I don't know if any of that is true but my experience was pleasant. It is clean, my linens were crisp, in perfect condition and visually appealing. It had all the conveniences, safe, iron, coffee pot, microwave, refrigerator, toaster, etc. They have a DVD machine from which you can get DVD's for free for viewing in your room. The way their room cards interact with the elevator provide a layer of protection. I was only there one night and I liked it.
