"Lovely old hotel "
On arrival the staff were helpful especially as they were busy with a wedding. Our room was lovely and full of character with high ceilings and old fashioned windows. The staff throughout the weekend were polite and very helpful nothing was too much.

The room was clean and comfortable and the breakfast and dinner were good, We were disappointed with the position of the room (Executive double room 44) which overlooked the bins containing dirty linen some of which was thrown on the ground. This did not add to the general ambiance of our stay.

"A lovely surprise deep in Nottinghamshire"
Lovely welcoming warm stay. We were a gay couple who were made to feel relaxed with no attitude or snide asides or faux manner. The evening meal was truly excellent in both quality and presentation.

"Great looking hotel "
Arrived at the hotel around 10pm for an overnight stay with one child. Upon arrival parked very easily due to distinct number of cars, checked in quickly enough and stated in room 101, the room at a quick glance looked OK. The following morning in the daylight you could see the room looked very tired, the chair in the room was heavily stained as was the carpet, in the bathroom pipes and exposed wall were left unboxed which let the finish down. We went down for breakfast at 8am and were the only guests. The choice was £10.50 for a cooked breakfast or £8.50 for the continental option, both my son and I are not the full cooked type of people so picked the continental option, at £8.50 we were both left alittle disappointed due the lack of options, now considering it's a 4* hotel you would expect a larger range of products on offer, I felt guilty giving my son some of the fruit available as he would have eaten all of it available given the amount. The room only cost £59 which included parking which for me was good value overall. Not too sure why given the hotel was so quiet a twin room couldn't have been given along with a slightly bigger room, it was clearly the smallest in that area of the hotel, a friend was also staying with his son as we were attending a football competition the following day and his room was at leat 50% larger than 101 and he booked after myself. Overall very competitive price for the room which appeared to be set in nice grounds, food not the best for price

Took my wife on a long weekend for our anniversary. We chose this area only because of my wifes maiden name is Newstead and we were visiting the Abbey and other attractions in the area. This Hotel fit all we needed which was basically Bed and Breakfast. Very nice staff and polite and a lovely breakfast.

"Lobby looks old but has nice bedrooms"
The bedroom is very clean and quite big. However, the food at breakfast was mediocre and there weren't any facilities. We needed a microwave but the hotel did not allow people to use them. The location is relatively convenient with the access to TRAM right outside. However, to get to the city centre, there was a lot of walking needed, for about 10-15 minutes. Also, the lobby looks rather old but the bedrooms look quite new. The hotel is not a luxury hotel but the hotel is worth the money paid.
