    About this property

Handmade Shepherds Hut on Beautiful Norfolk Farm

    Cabin in Norwich
Handmade in 2014, our wooden Shepherd’s Hut is the perfect place to retreat and enjoy the beautiful Norfolk countryside at North Farm. Mounted on cast-iron wheels from the local foundry, the hut is made from wood and insulated with lambs wool. Inside, it has a 4’6”double bed, chairs and small table and a wood-burning stove. The stove can be used to boil a kettle or warm a basic meal and on colder nights, makes it extremely cosy. During the Summer, the hut is situated in an isolated spot on our beautiful meadow, overlooking the stream, meaning that guests can enjoy the feeling of being totally ‘away from it all’ as they spend the day by the stream or long evenings by the fire-pit. During the winter months, it is situated closer to the farmhouse as the ground is very wet on the water-meadow but still with beautiful views and partially secluded. A shower and toilet are available at the farm-house for exclusive use of guests , a couple of minutes walk away. There are also facilities for washing-up and a small fridge is available to store fresh items, along with an electric kettle. Linen is provided for the double bed and towels are available at additional cost (£5 per person per stay). In the hut, there is a stove-top kettle and outside a fire-pit plus a small BBQ and also outdoor furniture. If you wish to do extensive cooking, you will need to bring your own additional equipment. We also provide an essentials box containing tea, coffee, sugar, salt, pepper and cooking oil and the first basket of wood. Additional baskets of wood are available at £4 per basket. A basic crockery and cutlery box is provided free of charge and is stored in the farmhouse area with the washing-up facilities. We ask that all of these items are returned clean to the box at the end of your stay. We’d rather do it this way and not charge for them! BBQ tools are also provided to use with the BBQ and fire pit. We recommend that you treat your stay in the Shepherds Hut as if you are enjoying extremely luxurious camping or ‘glamping’! During the colder months, the woodstove keeps the hut extremely cosy but it is still a short walk to the toilet block or back from your car after an evening in a local hostelry!
Bathrooms include a bath and shower.
The recreational activities listed below are available either on-site or nearby; fees may apply.

      A very relaxing break

David and Gill were so welcoming and helpful during our stay. Felicity was quick to respond positively to any queries. The Hut was clean, cosy and in a great location. A large area around the Hut is reserved for Hut users and our dog Isla really enjoyed her new garden. We will be back. Sandra and Mike

Felicity is so welcoming and the shepherds hut is perfect. Our Frenchies loved it too.

Lovely little hideaway in peaceful location

Just back from a short break to Norfolk, staying in this lovely hideaway. The location is peaceful and ideal for exploring the beautiful Norfolk area. The hut's facilities were lovely, albeit the mattress was a little soft for our liking, but that's a personal choice. We lit the woodburner and it was ideal for warming the chilly night. The bbq and fire pit were ideal for eating alfresco, however we would have preferred a larger table and chairs for comfort. The shower and toilet facilities were clean and ideal for this type of accommodation. In terms of improvements the only thing that would add a little bit more would be a windbreak as you do get a chill from the wind coming through the trees when the temperature drops. Overall, we had a fabulous relaxing stay and will recommend it to friends and family.

            5/5 Excellent

Idyllic, quiet, beautiful spot and a super little Shepherds Hut. Loved it.

If you are after a lovely quiet, countryside setting with minimal, but adequate facilities this will suit you. Such a lovely clean place to stay, watching Barn Owls cruise by and Herons wonder past, just super. For us, it was a warm evening, slept in a lovely cosy warm bed, with our new puppy "Charlie" in his bed next to us. We woke at 5am, opened the door and lay in bed sleeping and looking at the beautiful view. All, just a short walk from a beautiful farm house run by lovely people. We will be back, may be in the winter to cosy up with the wood burner glowing.
