Great centric hotel built in a historic bank building in Haugesund, steps from the waterfront. Great breakfast too!

the room was very comfortable and the bathroom great. I liked the rooftop patio. The jazz festival was nice to hear in the background and I am glad it quit by midnight so we could sleep.

Self check in for foreign travellers without access to SMS was a problem, and a stressful one. Staff wasn’t as helpful or reassuring as they should have been — communication was confusing and mixed messages. Overpriced but beds are comfy!

Worth the upgrade!
I paid for an upgraded room on the top floor which was unique and stylish. I hate carpets in hotel rooms but that was the only negative. Very friendly staff at the bar in the evening and at breakfast in the morning. Would definitely return. Love the keyless entry.

What I like was it was good beds, clean rooms, quiet and excellent breakfast. What I did not like was that the wifi in my room was awful. I had to go down to the main area to get any good wifi.

Nice location, and very clean hotel. Small rooms but for short stays it’s ok. Good breakfast buffet. Due to pandemic everything a bit less social, but that’s just how it is nowadays

The room door was not able to Lock! Room 202. We tried different ways to do that, but nothing worked. We left the room unlocked and hoped it was ok. It worked out fine, but was not quite ok for us.

Rooms are very small, no reception to help solve problems, parking too far away. Were unable to text us room entry code to get in (only use European phone numbers). Staff were helpful, breakfast was good, rooms were clean.

Calling the Banken a hotel is a bit of a stretch, at least if you're accustomed to the kinds of services hotels typically offer--like a check-in desk, or someone actually on-site who can help with things that come up. I'm happy to say that the room was great and the location was too, but our experience was very difficult. They didn't have our reservation, it took three phone calls to get someone on the line, and an hour to finally get into our room. To be fair, I don't know if the lost reservation was Banken's fault or hotels.com's fault, but when it takes an hour to resolve, something's wrong on both sides. By the way, we got the suite, which was great on paper, and we did like the room, but the bed is in a second-floor loft, and the bathroom was on the main floor, which made for treacherous middle-of-the night travel on a somewhat slippery winding staircase in the dark. Cool room, though, if you don't mind that.

Tiny room and certainly not a 4-star!
Extremely tiny room. My bathroom basin was like the size of a breakfast bowl! No room to move. Absolutely no space for anything! This is certainly not a 4-star hotel!

Self Serve Hotel
Pretty quiet on a rainy Sunday night. The pizza place around the corner was good. Room was good and breakfast was pretty solid. I'd stay again.

Nice place, bit quirky
The hotel will send you a text with a code which you will need to enter the hotel itself and then your room. It’s a bit of a boutique hotel. Rooms are an ok size, bathrooms are fine. I don’t like the combined shampoo/ soap toiletries. Everything was fine, the housekeeper had missed a huge cobweb though in my room which was a bit of a shame. Should my travels take me back to Haugesund then I may stay there again as it’s in a good location and I like its quirkiness

You need to be careful to put your active mobile phone number when you book as it turns out they text you the code to access the hotel and the room. Theres no reception after 8pm so it is important otherwise you’ll get locked out! Great hotel with lovely bed otherwise, no complaints.

wonderful stay
Great trip to Haugesund for the Ironman competition. The Banken was extremely well located in town, the staff incredibly friendly and helpful, and the rooms were good.

Very nice hotel in a perfect location. Do not take the cheapest room to the inner courtyard (loud exhausting air pipes - but no noise after 9 pm). However next time I book a better room.

Thank you for your feed back. Our Budget rooms are small and are all facing the inner courtyard and that is why we lover the rate. We are sorry for the sound from the ventilation system, and we will look into it asap. As you say, it will be better to pay a little extra to get a Standard room next time. We hope to see you again!

Good hotel. Quiet, comfortable and staff helpful. Having minimal staff, your room key/wifi code texts to you and bill on line works. Breakfast was okay but a very expensive additional extra for what was on offer. Overall good.

Clarion Haugesund Banken - Great!

Very Pleased with Stay
We were there for only one night; a Saturday. It was very quiet even though our room was across from the elevator. The staff seemed happy and were all very helpful. We very much appreciated the afternoon light dinner and the generous breakfast. It was good stop.
