Good place to stay
Nice hotel and we stopped off for a day on the way to Malpensa airport. Very helpful receptionist who gave us lots of advice on where to go and what to see and some suggestions for restaurants which we took up and ut was a lovely meal.

It was awful experience. I couldn't stay at hotel because I was in hospital. Even though I informed them a week ago, they told me they can't cancel the reservation. I don't want to recommend this hotel to anyone!!

Great Hotel with character
Lovely old fashioned unique hotel. Different to the chain hotels that all look the same. Large comfortable room, enormous bathroom. Friendly Staff. Good breakfasts with plenty of choice. Small problems when we first arrived, but they quickly sorted for us. Only negative thing I can say is that the shower wasn't very powerful, and the tiled floor in the shower was very slippery when wet. Needs a rubber mat

Very quiet hotel, no outside noise at all.
Deceptively good hotel in a back street. Delightful decor from yesteryear. Very obliging and pleasant staff. More staff at reception would have been welcome though. Beds were comfortable and the food of a high standard.

La Bussola (The Compass)
A nice hotel with friendly staff. The hotel is located in a relatively quite area and not to far from the town centre. The rooms are clean and comfortable with sky tv. The hotel is themed throughout with a large collection of antique cash registers, typewriters and other curios.

Interesting place with friendly staff.
A nice collection of paintings, clocks and ornaments to observe. Parking outside was possible on the street. About 15m walk to centre of town where more restaurants are, although a big supermarket is just around the corner. Good air-conditioning in the room. Nice view of the sunset from the balcony on the 4th floor.

In this day and age, you would expect hotel to match walk in prices with those advertised online. At reception, I found myself filling in the booking form and paying on Expedia! Hotel is quirky. Restaurant was closed when we arrived despite being advertised to being open to 10.30pm. The experience could have been more professional, but the room was comfortable and good value for money (once you paid the lowest advertised price).

Quirky hotel
Very comfortable if eclectic style. Will not be to everyone's taste. There is free on street parking but we opted to pay Euro 10 for a night in secure parking.

Charming style
It is a hotel full of antiques: typewriters, all kind of clocks. The room was big, clean, in very good conditions. Service was great, people are friendly. The restaurant was good, although the 3 TV's were a bit too loud. Overall, you get very good quality for that price.

A bit expensive for what you get.
We stayed here for four nights in July and we'd have to say the hotel is fair. There is not much to do in the surrounding area and taxis are hard to come by. The rooms are cleaned daily and the beds are comfortable although the television only has the news for English speakers. The breakfast is poor but we were told that the evening meals were delicious and great value for money. We wouldn't stay here again but that is not due to the hotel, more to do with the city itself. If you have to come to Novara then this hotel would be fine.

We reserved 2 rooms. One room we got was renovated and large, another one was very small and outdated. We asked to move us to another room but were told that there was no another room available.As we discovered later that day it was a lie - more people came later and got the better rooms. They gave use another room next day but it was even worse - the tv didn't work and the safe couldn't be setup. Next day they moved us again and finally to the normal room. Two days we didn't have any clen towels. The cleaning person just didn't bother to leave them for us. The area is not very friendly for the apres ski. There is no resort village for walking and not a lot of restaurants unless you are driving or use a cab. hotel has a nice spa, but you have to pay extra for using it.

Nice hotel in suburb Novara
We stayed one night on our way to Liguria. La Bussola is a lovely hotel with many extra's in the room for your comfort. Lovely kingsize bed which was very comfortable. Our daughter had a little comfortable bed of her own. She loved the power shower. Breakfast is good, quite a lot of choices and friendly staff. Location is not that great. Our view was on the carpark of Carrefour. But it was fine as we only stayed for one night and convenient to get some shopping.

Hotel La Bussola in Novara, Italy
My wife and I stayed here for four nights in August 2010 as our vehicle had broken down nearby. We had a wonderful stay during what was a stressful time for us, and I stayed there for a further night in September when I returned to collect my car. All the staff were extremely helpful (the manager even gave us a lift to the station on our departure.) I recommend this hotel to anyone and would certainly stay there again.

Appearances are not what they seem!!
We used this hotel for an overnight stay on our way to Tuscany,the surrounding area is a little built up and the hotel looks over a Carefour Supermarkert. The front of the hotel looks a little run down but when you go inside you are met with what is alsmost like a Tardis.The reception staff were very helpful and our room was well equiped even had air conditioning.The hotel was quite busy with a large party but we had no problems getting a meal in the evening in the hotel restaurant. Breakfast in the morning was continental with a fair choice . We would use this hotel for an overnight stay if in the area again.But would probaby not stay any longer due to the position of the hotel.

La Bussola Appearances can be deceptive.
We stayed for an overnight stop on our way to Tuscany and also on our return journey home.When we arrived at the hotel the area does look a bit run down and the Hotel from the outside does look a little shabby,but appearances can be deceptive.We were greeted pleasantly at reception and advised of their services.Our rooms on both visits were very clean and well equipted. We also had breakfast and evening meal on these visits and were not disappointed,We would use this hotel again if in the area.

Every business trip to Novara
When in Novara, I always stay here. I used to visit Novara once a month for about a year and I have tried about ten different hotels, all recommended on various sites. This is the only place I will stay at. Sure the decorations are eclectic and the bed pillows are big, but the staff is fantastic, location unbeatable and breakfast suits most tastes, from southern European with sweeets and strong coffee to Northern European with eggs, hearty bread, cold cuts etc. My home in Novara
