Room was very clean cold as the heating was inoperative with drafts window frames, the room was also small and uncomfortable for two adults. On a better note the Spa and facilities were excellent.

We have been coming to this Hotel for years a little away treat from time to time with great Spa facilities Good sized swimming pool Staff friendly and great food at the Fat Abbott

Lovely spa But the bedroom was so dusty behind the bed stand and was not cleaned properly The reception staff were nice but not overly welcoming Bathroom shower fell down and no hot water in the bathroom I wouldn’t recommend this property to anyone Very outdated and needs some upgrading

We stayed in room 28 the noise through the night was like a lawnmower every 20 mins, we asked staff what it was and everyone said no one else had mentioned it, it woke us up all night and staff were not really concerned when e told them. The hotel was nice breakfast lovely, Spa you have to pay for a towel, when we asked for extra towels in the hotel they said no, put our towel over the towel rail but the towel rail was not heated so still wet the next morning. Staff friendly would stay again but not in the room 28 building and would take own towels.

I did not like having to pay £3 for towels at the pool. This was not the case the first time I stayed. Lovely breakfast and meal at the Fat Abbott.

Pro: Cleanliness Staff at the breakfast service Spa: Swimming pool and sauna, steam rooms and jacuzzi were very clean Cons: We arrived at 9pm and first thing we were asked by Peter (the receptionist) our passports. We travel around UK and we have never asked to show our passports, specially when we have a London address although is not a problem. We showed him the NHS ID as we came straight from work and when my sister told him, she had dual nationality (British and Spanish, suddenly we did not need to show him a copy. The room was slightly dark Breakfast was ok. The use of the spa was not very flexible during the holidays period and would be courtesy to be informed before the booking. The checking out was upsetting! The night before, we asked if we could check out 1 hour late (noon) as we wanted to use the Spa before leaving the room (Spa facilities opened at 10am and checking out was 11am). She told us yes. The morning of the 1st January, when going for breakfast, I informed Peter that we were allowed to stay one hour extra to be able to use the spa and had a shower in the room as our train back to London was at 2pm. He told us it will be fine with an extra charge of £10. I told him it was not what we were told and he insisted we had to pay the extra £10 for us to stay. At the end I told him, I want to speak with the manager and of course, the manager was busy and never came to talk to us. It is not about the £10 as we paid £380! It is about customer services

The hotel on the exterior and it's location is beautiful...never judge a book by it's cover. Internally, in most areas, it's tired and past it's best. Decor,furniture abd soft furnishings are very dated with a bit of a Faulty Towers set up with staff efficiency. Off site pub was not what we expected for dining. We could have paid Premier Inn prices if that was our requirement. The room was ridiculously hot and the radiator could not be adjusted to reduce the red hot output, even after reporting the issue. Luckily, we had two windows we could fully open to let in slightly cooler air. It was explained heating is on a timer...this seems crazy when carbon output is so important. This hotel needs serious investment and is over priced for what is being delivered. We will not return nor recommend.

Sour milk on the breakfast table, had to ask for fresh milk. Staff friendly enough. Lunch in the Fat Abbot was decent value but had to chase up the order as only one meal was brought out (5 of us dining) not brilliant service tbh. Nice quality toiletries. The church next door is worth a visit though, really beautiful.

Fast check in, staff polite. Disabled parking available for couple cars , which is useful. Ground floor room in main building was warm on arrival, which was great especially when cold out. Room spacious and clean . The restaurant food lovely .
