It is a beautiful B&B and the small double was a good size. So close to everything.

The hotel is quite nice, simple but ideal for those who want to explore the Town and surrounding, and then back to the hotel to have some rest.. Lovely breakfast!

What a great place to stay

The Palace Hill Hotel is a lovely place to stay the rooms are comfortable and the owners are friendly and make you feel at home from the moment you enter the hotel. We only stayed a couple of days but we could easily have stayed longer if only we had more leave from work. Parking is free as you are given a permit to park on one of the streets to the rear of the hotel which is great as parking in the car parks could get expensive. The hotel is on one of the main streets leading from the middle of town to the beach so nothing is too far away but as the hotel is situated above the street on a length of high pavement most of the traffic noise is lost. There are plenty of places to eat nearby and the beach is less than a couple of minutes walk down hill. I could not think of a nicer place to stay and would recommend the Palace Hill Hotel as a great hotel to stay in when visiting Scarborough.

Sometimes beware of high ratings

Bit disappointed in this B&B. It's called a "hotel" on the site, but it isn't really, it's a guesthouse. We booked on the strength of reviews on Tripadvisor, but when we got there we couldn't understand why they were so rave. That is, until the owner wanted to charge extra on my prepaid stay and then offered to forgoe the cash for a good review. It's okay, but the room was very stuffy with a small window, little ventilation, and it was really really noisy at night - first the rowdies out shouting on the street to 3 am, and then at 4 am mighty flocks of seagulls, it sounded like a scene out of the movie "the Birds". To be fair, the owner provides both a fan and earplugs in the room. Scarborough has three faces: the modern town, the remnants of the grand old days gone by, and the tacky area down near the port, amusement arcades and fish and chip shops, etc. This hotel is in the latter area. I would advise looking for something up on top of the cliff overlooking the south end of south bay.
