Three days - just right

Posted 23-Sep-2016
Pros: Minutes from the train station and a beautiful hotel. Staff was helpful and very friendly.
Cons: Not a thing.
Location: If you are coming and going by train this is a flat easy walk. Most of the sites you come to York to see are within a fifteen minute walk.
We tour relaxed so three days in York was fine. The free city tour was interesting and fun. It was delivered by a woman who obviously loves her town. The Minister is a must. We found that especially in the lower part of the building, the Croft, that there were people stationed around you could ask questions. They were well informed and the stories they told were interesting. They responded to our questions, but most visitors did not interact with them. They bring the structure to life. We found the York Art Gallery very interesting especially the lumber room.

Impeccable stay at truly 5* hotel in heart of York

Posted 19-Sep-2016
Pros: Location, valet parking, hotel quality, room quality, spa, everything!
Cons: Nothing noticed
Location: Right in the middle of York, a stone throw from all of the action, restaurants, bars, river etc.
We stayed for a Saturday night in September. The whole stay was impeccable from start to finish. Location couldn't be better - heart of the city. Valet parking was easy. Park to the front of the hotel and the valet will be straight out. No need to book. £25 per night. Check in very friendly and fast. Hotel itself is gorgeous externally and internally. Room quality very high. Feels luxury. Spa facilities fantastic! A true delight - would certainly recommended and stay again.

Great spacious room and bathroom. Top toiletries. The hotel exudes grandeur with wide corridors, high ceilings. Very attentive staff. My one regret is that I didn't have time to visit the spa on this visit. Excellent breakfast.

Classic hotel in the middle of the historic area

Posted 11-Sep-2016
Location: York Minster, The Shambles, The Clifford Tower - all within 10 mins walk.
Perfect service, concierge explained us where to go and what to see. We had the dinner at the restaurant (Tasting menu) and not only it was great - it was also a stealing deal!

Nice. Apart from not been told about parking price

Posted 05-Sep-2016
Not been told about parking until check out. Then was charged £25 per night for parking. After nearly £400 for 2 nights you would think parking may be free. But no £50 extra
