Paid for an upgrade total waste of money. Room was really tatty, most of the windows didn't even open. Staff weren't very helpful. Only good thing about it was the breakfast

Great family hotel

Posted 22-Aug-2015
Pros: Simple, honest & friendly. location.
Cons: Room decoration refurb. Bed was fine.
Location: 5 or 10 minutes walk away from just about everything. Including the skatepark & bmx track !
Great family hotel. Simple & honest. Friendly, helpful Yorkshire staff ! Ace cliff-top location, central to everything. If you want car park space, book it in advance.

Walking distance from the sea

Posted 18-Aug-2015
Pleasant hotel, would have loved a sea view instead of car park but we had booked late so couldn't complain. Quick, helpful check-in, good breakfast, room clean & adequate, would book there again.

not a happy bunny

Posted 17-Aug-2015
Booked through Expedia, 1 night included breakfast for a double room for 2 On arriving for breakfast was told we hadn't paid for breakfast so had to pay another £14. Expedia and the Clifton don't correspond with one another, all options on the website included breakfast. Clifton blamed Expedia, Expedia blamed Clifton. One phone call could have sorted it but we had to go through the embarrassment. Avoid

Really bad service and unclean room

Posted 17-Aug-2015
Pros: n/a
Cons: to fix all of the above
On arrival the receptionist at the desk was really miserable and unhelpful. I had emailed the hotel previously asking about parking and did not get a response. when we got there, there was no parking available and then had to ask the other hotels to use their space which we had to pay ten pound for. then when we got to our room the room was unclean. the shower was disgusting. the toilet wouldnt flush unless you kept your finger on the button and also the sink wouldnt empty the water unless you kept your finger on the button to lift the sink cap. the room was really small and stuffy. it was not value for money at all! i do not recommend this hotel.

Disappointing accommodation.

Posted 03-Aug-2015
Cons: Just about everything.
I complained about the two parking spaces I had been given and the Duty Manager was obviously not trained to deal with customers, being rude and argumentative. The room was of a poor standard. The carpet was torn and the furniture cheap. There was no phone in the room and no toilet brush. The windows outside my room were rotting and had very little paint on them. The food was good with plenty of choice for breakfast and good and pleasant service from the staff. There were lifts to all floors. The price for the room and parking were not good value for money.

Average hotel stay

Good service on check in, hotel itself slightly run down and could do with some modernising. Room was small, bathroom too small for my tall partner who struggled to move and had difficulty using the small shower. Disappointed that breakfast was only 8-9.30 and check out was basically none existent, just dropped off the key and walked out. The lift is also confusing and given no explanation how to use it (it appeared to be a locked door) my partner and I had to walk up the 4 flights of stairs to our room. This was also confusing as the final flight of stairs was separate to the others.
