"Very enjoyable stay"
The staff are exceptionally helpful and friendly from the moment we stepped out of our taxi on arrival to the departure of our trip. The food was lovely, we had a cooked breakfast, lots of choice, and had a mid afternoon snack, the portion sizes were really good too. The beds were really comfortable too, had a great nights sleep. Would highly recommend the hotel.

"A mostly good English country hotel"
The accommodation is of a good standard, and on the whole met our needs for a one night leisure stay. The bed, although adequate for me, was too short for a husband over 6'! Although the room (Room 11) was mostly well equipped, it was disappointing only decaf coffee was provided and being on the top floor, the sloping room ceilings caused head collisions for the person entering one side of the bed.

"raithwaite hotel"
went here for a 50th birthday with my husband.got there as was given a room with disabled bathroom. Went to reception who changed me the room. We were in the lodge. Nice rooms but nothing to rave about especially for the money £253.00 and that was not including breakfast not really worth the money. Just stayed at hotel du vin n Harrogate had a real swanky room for a lot less. Did not stay for a meal or breakfast .went to a restaurant in sand send for eating. Bed was comfy .Bathroom nice but again nothing swanky. The room was cold. Tried to sort heating but did not really warm the room. Overall nice but very pricey for what you get.

"great location for Christmas shopping "
Warm welcome from Reception, able to park car upon arrival at 10am, so could quickly get into the conference hall and start shopping at the wonderful County Living Christmas Fair. Returned to hotel at tea time for a lovely cuppa and a revitalising swim, followed by a glass of bubbly in our room. Had to walk through the black tie revellers in our lounge gear with wet hair, to our lift, felt decidedly under-dressed! Asked one of the young staff for a couple of empty champagne flutes and were sharply told that it was a private function so we couldn't join - as if - all we wanted were 2 empty glasses, which were eventually supplied from the bar after an embarrassing wait amongst all the beautifully dressed people! Other than having to wait a long time for a cuppa at breakfast, everything else was great.

"Beautiful manor house, 10 mins drive from York"
Middlethorpe Hall is a beautiful, luxurious manor house, but what makes it really special are the super staff. In fact one of the best places we have ever stayed. From the gentlemen who greeted us at the door, to the knowledgeable staff in the dining room, everyone treated us as special guests. They remembered our names, preferences - even at breakfast. Tea delivered to our room with home-made biscuits, as we arrived, was a welcome surprise. We phoned for morning tea and coffee when we woke up both mornings of our stay, and it was delivered within a few minutes - at no charge. We treated ourselves to the tasting meal on the first night, complete with wines, and what a treat we were in for! With the addition of a glass of champagne - on the house - to celebrate our wedding anniversary, the evening was truly memorable. Every course was delicious - we particularly enjoyed the venison, cooked perfectly - Exceptional. The second night my husband ordered battered fish and thick-cut chips in the lounge, and really enjoyed it. Breakfast haddock was tasty, whilst my husband enjoyed the full cooked works. The gardens are beautiful, and a walk both before breakfast and early evening were very pleasant. The gardeners are readily on site and happy to discuss the gardens. We did not have an opportunity to try out the Spa, but other guests commented on how nice the swimming pool was. Very sad to go and can't wait to return, but next time for longer than 2 nights!

Classy friendly warm and good choice for breakfasts. Rooms were very well appointed and bathroom was spotless with everything you needed. The pool was really warm and although outside swimming under the starry frosty night sky was a real treat.

"Lovely hotel and food, service a little slow"
Generally excellent but on a few occasions once sat down in a restaurant we seemed to disappear and had to grab people to get drinks, menus etc.

Pocket Guide: Spa Hotels in North Yorkshire

Situated in the north-eastern corner of the country, North Yorkshire is an ideal destination for those looking to get away from it all and unwind. Packed with National Parks and natural beauty, visitors couldn't ask for a more relaxing environment. It's not only the countryside that provides tranquillity in this part of England, though. There are also plenty of exquisite spa hotels in North Yorkshire, with the facilities on-site to help relax the body and clear the mind.

    Rural Spa Breaks

More than 40% of North Yorkshire land is set within a National Park. You don't have to strap a rucksack on your back and pull on your walking boots to get the most from this beauty, however. Equally enjoyable, at least, are the myriad of spa hotels dotted around the countryside.

Feversham Arms Hotel and Verbena Spa can be found in the quiet village of Helmsley, set in the south-west of the North York Moors National Park. The welcoming hotel boasts an impressive array of facilities, including a sauna, Jacuzzi and a whole range of hands-on, professional treatments.

    A Spa in the City

You don't have to travel out to the countryside to find a peaceful hotel and spa. The historic city of York is blessed with a handful of luxurious spa hotels. From the comfort of these stunning hotels, guests have a short walk to all the fine shops, bars and restaurants of pretty York. There are also plenty of fascinating historical attractions to check out.

The Grand Hotel and Spa is one of the most exclusive places to stay in the city. The stunning frontage impresses from the outset, but the interior facilities are the real highlight.

    Outstanding Facilities

No two spa hotels in North Yorkshire are the same, but one thing they all have in common is outstanding facilities. Indoor swimming pools generally come as standard, but the finer details of spa and beauty treatments vary from place to place.

Middlethorpe Hotel and Spa boasts some of the most spectacular spa facilities in the county. From whirlpool baths to steam rooms and aromatherapy massages, guests have a long list of options to choose from.
