Over priced for what you get

Posted 07-Sep-2016 on Hotels
I was very disappointed with this place - the room was very small and looked like it hadn't been cleaned. I struggle to agree that this is a four star establishment - it needs some renovation and TLC. Staff were OK and the breakfast was nice. I would not come here again.

Great place to stay on the Coast! We had an enormous bathroom!! In the height of Summer be prepared for loud crowds and a CONSTANT hum of Seagulls that may keep you up, but The Riviera was a nice place to stay in walking distance of the Train Station, Castle, and quieter North beach area. Cheers!

Central location in Scarborough. Close to beach.

Pros: Staff were helpful to stay late for our after 10:30 pm arrival. Room was very comfortable and well appointed.
Cons: Stairs and floors are old and creak a lot.
Location: Castle, coast, beach
We only stayed one night. The staff helpfully stayed late since we were delayed on arrival. We had to pay for parking and then instead of scratching off the silver on the parking pass, we just circled the date in ink and got a parking ticket. We are appealing it. Nearby bar gets loud with drunks in late evening. Good restaurants with some that serve late. Lovely walk to the beach and nearby castle.

Very small room

Posted 27-Jan-2016 on Hotels
The room I was given was extremely small, the bathroom was a joke, the door wouldn't open fully as the toilet was behind it, so small. The rest of the hotel is nice creaky but nice, just don't go in room 19

Poor value for money

Posted 23-Sep-2015 on Hotels
Very disappointing - room was half a room and consequently the t.v faced the shower wall (about 2/3 feet away) and was not central to the bed. No bath. The toilet systern broke and the shower drain was foul smelling. The noise from outside revellers throughout the night was very disturbing - the double glazing was inadequate. No room wifi although this was stipulated in the facilities. Every floor creaked and the lift was an antiquated system that didn't work if not closed properly. On a couple of occasions we had to walk to and from the 4th floor. No one on reception most of the time. Very poor value for money. I have travelled all over the world and this accommodation rates amongst the worst. Breakfast was the only plus with a good, well cooked variety and friendly staff
