Great breakfast, poor wifi

Posted 11-Jan-2016 on Hotels
There's no kettle in the room. It's a little confusing to use the shower. The worst is that the wifi signal was soooo bad that we could barely use it. (Even in the restaurant) however, the breakfast was fantastic and the heat was warm.

Overpriced Budget Hotel

Posted 04-Jan-2016 on Hotels
This hotel is 2 star not 4. Close enough to town for walking but the accommodation is fairly poor. The room off the main building musty although clean enough. On the first day of the stay on returning to the room we found that the towels left on the bed by room service were wet. We asked for dry ones and we're given them but we're also told it was policy only to change them every other day. What had transpired was that the towels we had deliberately left in the shower basin had been rescued and refold ed and left on the bed. We did not eat a meal in the hotel but we did have breakfast which despite the boast on the website was no more than average. The decor in the main bar and foyer was rather retro but jaded. The free minibar in the room contained 1 bottle of beer and 1 bottle of white wine and some water. The location is not too bad as it's 15 minute walk to the Minster. We paid over £150 a night for the hotel for b&b which was well over priced even for the New Year. The year before I paid about £100 a night for the premier Inn in central London. The Noir is a 2 star hotel and even at that time if year you should pay no more than £70 a night for a double. Speaking to the landlord of the hotel next door he told me he would have charges between £150 _ £200 for our 3 night stay not the £460 the Noir took.

Lovely break

Room was "compact" so quite small but was clean and well maintained. Food excellent. Staff attentive and polite. Within walking distance of town centre. WiFi reception was poor.

Nice breakfast 15 walk into town. Dated decor

A very average room. Surprised how dated it was. Hardly any food available in the menu as they'd run out. No bath for a very expensive fee
