Stayed here for one night with a friend. The hotel was quite new and all the attractions are appoximately 10-20 mins walk away. The room was very clean. I just wished they had conditioner.

"Comfortable room and great breakfast"
Hotel on dual carriageway, but didn't hear any noise from outside hotel. Plenty of car parking available on the day we stayed. Receptionist was professional but could have been friendlier. Room was a fair size and well equipped with good size TV and welcome tray. Beds really comfortable. Bathroom sparkling clean with over bath shower. Small bottles of toiletries provided and replenished on request. Breakfast was self service for continental and table service for beverages and cooked breakfast. Really good quality breakfast and very simple. Will return to this hotel if in area again.

"Excellent location and pleasant surroundings. "
Stayed at Middleton's for two nights and had no complaints. Hotel is set in a number of different, historical buildings with plenty of outside space to relax. Our room was clean and tidy and the bathroom was quite luxurious, with bath, shower cubicle and his & her sinks. Floors are quite uneven, a result of the ave of the building, but that only added to the character. Staff were friendly. Location is fantastic, a five minute walk from the centre of town, but far enough from any noise.

"Stunning hotel in a stunning location."
The hotel is located very close to the A19 near to Yarm, however it is located in the beautiful and tranquil grounds which enjoy stunning views of the Cleveland Hills with only a very low level of noise drifting up from the A19. The staff were friendly and attentive throughout. We were made to feel both very welcome and comfortable with nothing being a problem. Also, the staff were attentive without being overly familiar or making us feel uncomfortable. The bar service was quick with a quality range of drinks and aperitifs. We selected our meal from the table d'ote and were not disappointed in any way. Again, the staff being friendly and attentive, helping with our wine selection and ensuring our experience was memorable. The room was warm and comfortable with the most stunning view over the river and towards the Cleveland hills. Finally, a good selection of breakfast options and a smooth check out made this a stay which we are looking forward to repeating in the near future. Many thanks.

"Lovely Hotel Very relaxing"
We greatly enjoyed our recent stay. Excellent food, relaxed atmosphere, with attentive staff when needed. location is fantastic for Malton and the shops, along with short drives to many of features that Yorkshire has to offer. Breakfast was gorgeous with a fantastic selection. Very clean hotel and allows pets, although we didn't have an animal with us, was nice to see.

"Friday Night Stay"
Arrived after longer than usual journey due to typical Friday traffic chaos on the roads. Welcoming Check In. Really enjoyable evening meal and breakfast the next morning after reasonable sleep in a warm clean bedroom. The only peculiarity was a telephone call from reception at midnight to say there had been a complaint by a room to one side to request my television volume be turned down. I am 60 years old and of all the years of my travelling up and down the UK I have never been requested to do this before. On reflection - the TV was mounted on the bedroom wall rather than as is normally the case during my travels- on the bedroom dressing table/drawer unit. Perhaps the bedroom walls are too thin for the TV to be wall mounted ? This next room customer complaint completely spoiled my relaxation after a delightful late evening meal as I overcompensated the lack of TV volume for fear of further complaints.

Pocket Guide: Child Friendly Hotels in North Yorkshire

North Yorkshire is the holiday destination that's got it all. From the remarkable historical attractions in the walled City of York, to the tranquil greenery of the famous Yorkshire Moors, there's plenty to see and do. The diversity of North Yorkshire as a holiday destination makes it a particular favourite for travelling families, because there's something to keep everyone happy. Completing the package is the impressive array of child-friendly hotels dotted around this stunning county.

    Space for Mum and Dad

Holidays with children can be exciting - magical, even, at times - but they can also be tiring for mum and dad. After a long day's sightseeing or walking in one of the county's many National Parks, you're likely to be looking forward to some time to yourself. That's why the best child friendly hotels in North Yorkshire are the ones which provide facilities for mum and dad, as well as the kids.

Aldwark Manor Golf and Spa Hotel hits the nail on the head when it comes to leisure time. Not only is there an exquisite golf course on the site, there are also a handful of facilities given over entirely to relaxation. The sauna and health club are always favourites.

    Splash around in North Yorkshire

There are all kinds of fun facilities that family hotels entice the kids with, but few can top the novelty of a swimming pool. Indoor pools provide an excellent means of tiring out the kids at the same time as keeping them entertained, and they can be used all year round, regardless of what the weather's doing outside. As an added benefit, they can help the parents unwind when the little ones have gone to bed.

The Novotel in York city centre houses an excellent indoor pool. There's also free WiFi throughout the hotel, which will come in handy when you're planning tomorrow's excursions. Thanks to the central location, the hotel serves as a fine base from which to explore all of York's fascinating historical attractions. There's even a restaurant in the hotel - great for those nights when the kids can't quite make it out into town.
