"Good hotel, enjoyed our stay."
Hotel is in a good location, perfect for our family trip in York. Our children wanted to walk the walls and there is one behind the hotel. Close to Jorvik centre and other attractions. We had breakfast at the hotel which was very good, staff were polite and helpful. Our room was clean. Only thing that bothered us was that there is no air-conditioning and our room was hot during the night with 4 of us sleeping there. It was too noisy to have the window open. Could have done with more pillows on the bed too as we only had one each.

"Stylish, high quality hotel, central but quiet"
I don't know why this hotel is rated 3.5 stars - my economy single room was undeniably compact but tastefully appointed to a very high quality and standard, with a pleasing feel. There is an attention to detail in the rooms - most things feel just right. The breakfast room is a long way down a dismal corridor towards the conference centre, but looks onto the river. As a visitor you do feel more part of a conference but the breakfast offers a huge range of quality choices and is very good value. The RBG bar and restaurant is best avoided. Ghastly loud muzak and the usual children's fare of pizza, burgers etc - what passes for British hospitality these days - drove me elsewhere. Reception area feels sterile, I found the staff rather curt and lacking in charm. Minor irritants about the room - tv positioned the wrong end of the desk console so it is too close to watch comfortably from the bed - the only possible position, no proper reading lamp by the bed, bathroom light switch wrong side of the door - inconvenient if you get up in the night, fantastic quality shower but curtain inadequate to prevent spillages onto bathroom floor. Quiet riverside location convenient for station and centre a real bonus. Would definitely return.

"Stunning hotel in a stunning location."
The hotel is located very close to the A19 near to Yarm, however it is located in the beautiful and tranquil grounds which enjoy stunning views of the Cleveland Hills with only a very low level of noise drifting up from the A19. The staff were friendly and attentive throughout. We were made to feel both very welcome and comfortable with nothing being a problem. Also, the staff were attentive without being overly familiar or making us feel uncomfortable. The bar service was quick with a quality range of drinks and aperitifs. We selected our meal from the table d'ote and were not disappointed in any way. Again, the staff being friendly and attentive, helping with our wine selection and ensuring our experience was memorable. The room was warm and comfortable with the most stunning view over the river and towards the Cleveland hills. Finally, a good selection of breakfast options and a smooth check out made this a stay which we are looking forward to repeating in the near future. Many thanks.

"Friday Night Stay"
Arrived after longer than usual journey due to typical Friday traffic chaos on the roads. Welcoming Check In. Really enjoyable evening meal and breakfast the next morning after reasonable sleep in a warm clean bedroom. The only peculiarity was a telephone call from reception at midnight to say there had been a complaint by a room to one side to request my television volume be turned down. I am 60 years old and of all the years of my travelling up and down the UK I have never been requested to do this before. On reflection - the TV was mounted on the bedroom wall rather than as is normally the case during my travels- on the bedroom dressing table/drawer unit. Perhaps the bedroom walls are too thin for the TV to be wall mounted ? This next room customer complaint completely spoiled my relaxation after a delightful late evening meal as I overcompensated the lack of TV volume for fear of further complaints.

"Brief stay been before"
This is a nice hotel and staff are very friendly. It is the second time we have been there . Only downside on both occasions have noticed that the road hotel is on is quite noisy at night .. also this time tv in next room on wall where we sleep and couple had it on till 1.15 am ! Not hotels fault of course but Not the best nights sleep ! . Food looks very good but haven't eaten there. Have to pay for car parking £10 overnight which I think is abit of a cheek considering carpark in hotel grounds ! Receptionist on check out didn't ask when we left if we had had a nice stay think that's a shame ...

"Great hotel, quiet night's sleep"
Staff are really friendly, really helpful and you can have endless tea, coffee, bottled water to enjoy your stay. Breakfast is great, with local produce. Had a really good night's sleep, couldn't hear anything in the night, the location is really quiet but close enough to the centre for easy access. Car park is great too.

Pocket Guide: Child Friendly Hotels in North Yorkshire

North Yorkshire is the holiday destination that's got it all. From the remarkable historical attractions in the walled City of York, to the tranquil greenery of the famous Yorkshire Moors, there's plenty to see and do. The diversity of North Yorkshire as a holiday destination makes it a particular favourite for travelling families, because there's something to keep everyone happy. Completing the package is the impressive array of child-friendly hotels dotted around this stunning county.

    Space for Mum and Dad

Holidays with children can be exciting - magical, even, at times - but they can also be tiring for mum and dad. After a long day's sightseeing or walking in one of the county's many National Parks, you're likely to be looking forward to some time to yourself. That's why the best child friendly hotels in North Yorkshire are the ones which provide facilities for mum and dad, as well as the kids.

Aldwark Manor Golf and Spa Hotel hits the nail on the head when it comes to leisure time. Not only is there an exquisite golf course on the site, there are also a handful of facilities given over entirely to relaxation. The sauna and health club are always favourites.

    Splash around in North Yorkshire

There are all kinds of fun facilities that family hotels entice the kids with, but few can top the novelty of a swimming pool. Indoor pools provide an excellent means of tiring out the kids at the same time as keeping them entertained, and they can be used all year round, regardless of what the weather's doing outside. As an added benefit, they can help the parents unwind when the little ones have gone to bed.

The Novotel in York city centre houses an excellent indoor pool. There's also free WiFi throughout the hotel, which will come in handy when you're planning tomorrow's excursions. Thanks to the central location, the hotel serves as a fine base from which to explore all of York's fascinating historical attractions. There's even a restaurant in the hotel - great for those nights when the kids can't quite make it out into town.
