Do not bother applying for a reward card because it is more hassle than what it is worth. You get questioned every time you put your receipts on (That's if the machine works) You will get humiliated by the manager questioning your receipts. Also do not play the gaming machines because most of the lights do not work.Beers and lagers are served in incorrect glasses. Rooms are nice though and the entertainment team are great!!

Close to shops and beach

Wouldnt be worth full amount for b&b. Only one lift working for whole of large hotel. Breakfast was ok, fruit was lovely though! Staff were very helpful, and efficient at reception. Parking a problem if you wanted to go out for the day, as parking spaces went very quickly on your return. Windows to bedroom were absolutely filfthy but room clean but needs a lick of paint to brighten up room. Very basic i say. Would stay there if nowhere else to stay!

Grand hotel. ....grand no more!

Building was tired. Great shame as wouldnt take much to make it shine again. Food complete let down. Cheap n obviously not home made. Room was decent & clean but overpowering smell of nicotine. Location good. Netting didn't cover enough of outside building to stop seagulls nesting & bird mess covered outside drinking area.staff nice. Will not be returning or recommending.

Good location.

Hotel is very old fashioned. However the room had everything you need. Family sea rooms are very cold in the winter months. This time we had small double room which was much warmer, although the view was terrible - looking out onto a straight wall with lots of dirty Windows! But at least it was warmer. There are several bars and seating area's in the hotel to sit and chill or watch Sky tv, but we did not eat there so cannot comment. The hotel is in an excellent location and you can get the lift down to the beach just around the corner, costs 90p each. Well worth it if you struggle with walking. Overall the hotel is quite cheap, the beds are nice and clean, but do not expect luxury. You get what you pay for.

What a shame!

Pros: Great building and location
Cons: See above!
This hotel could be so much better. It is a wonderful building in a great location let down by extremely poor management. As you enter the foyer, you see a great architecturally magnificent space which someone has decided might be improved by some very tired, slightly sorry looking bunting. I had plenty of time to consider the bunting and its contribution to the foyer as check-in took over one and a half hours - long queues stretching around the foyer. This was not a one-off event, perhaps caused by a computer malfunction, as we stayed two nights and saw exactly the same queues on the second afternoon too. Don't attempt to check-in anytime between 2 and 6. Once checked in, the room was mainly fine although the spa bath did not work and the TV was rather small for the size of room. But this is minor stuff. But come the evening, the queues appeared again, this time at the bar. The hotel has three bars but had decided to open only two of them, a standard bar and the cocktail bar. The cocktail bar was completely empty for the full hour we spent there while there was a long queue (about 20 minutes) to get a drink at the other bar. The cocktail barman stood completely idle for a full hour, watching people queuing for a drink. This hotel could be great but only if its management is sored out..

Deceiving looks

Posted 24-Apr-2017
From the outside, a welcoming look but once inside a developing bad memory from check in, having negotiated the long queue at reception. I requested a disable room but didn't know my room type until negotiating the sub-basement windowless accommodation area and then having to rejoin the long queue to make a complaint which resulted in a 6th floor room along a long corridor. Other hotel chains have given me the courtesy of a phone call advising of the unavailability, why not Britannia? A most unenjoyable experience for which I have to intentions of ever repeating at this miserable hotel!

The hotel needs a few things doing to it repainting in parts .We booked a sea view room and was put in a room with a window that was a least 8 feet off the ground .overall we enjoyed are stay. The food was excellent all good quality and the 3 course dinner was well worth 12.50 each We will be going again just hope we get the right room.
