Staff were very friendly and accommodating. Sadly the rooms were a little stuffy (no air con) and noisy - could hear when taps turned on elsewhere in the building.

It was great to stay there, as I stayed there many years ago when the Farther of the present Landlord had it. They came from the same village in South Yorkshire were we are from. It's position for the Bus to Whitby & Scarborough is great no more than 5 yards to Whitby & 10 yards to Scarborough. Meals very good and well priced. Well keep beer especially the real ales. I would recommend this place to anyone. Don't tell to many people as it will be full & we want be able to get booked in. Like the quote form Arnold Schwarzenegger We will be back from Mr J.& V. Jones

Wedding at Raven Hall Hotel

Posted 12-Sep-2015 on Hotels
We booked the Blacksmiths Arms as we were unable to get a room at Raven Hall Hotel where we were going to a wedding. The room and bathroom were good sizes and suited what we needed. Plenty of choice for breakfast. Our only complaints would be that the shower wasn't very powerful and was a bit of a pain to get the right temperature and that someone (presumably from the hotel) walked in on us without knocking while we were finishing getting ready. Bed was very comfy. Toiletries had been left in the bathroom. Tea/coffee was available in the bedroom. Overall, a lovely stay!

Blacksmiths Arms Inn

Posted 29-Nov-2014 on Hotels
V easy to find in a tiny, pretty village. Greeted warmly. Room clean & q nicely decorated, my friend a&I had a twin room (room 4). Plenty parking (but car park badly lit). Loads of tea/coffee & toiletries & beds comfy (but squeaky). Shame you could only see the TV from 1 bed & there was only a bedside table & lamp next to that bed too. Loo VERY noisy to flush so we didn't at night, & the thing which kept the shower head up was broken, so it rested at chest height. Though the hotel advertised wifi, we couldn't get it in our room & we wanted to google things to do the following day. My friend got a tiny bit of signal if she sat on the stairs. I got intermittent signal only if I sat in the bar downstairs- unfortunately, a member of staff whose name begins with T, was drunkenly screeching in there until late with her son, who looked about 13. I left after she told the Landlord at the top of her voice that she was going to urinate on his Sunday dinner in work the next day. We saw her at breakfast in the morning, seemingly v hungover. She was talking to the guests at the next table how terrible she felt & how drunk she was the night before. However, the breakfast was really nice & there was plenty of it! Didn't eat in the restaurant as seemed a little expensive, though same food at same prices available at a couple local pubs - not much choice locally unless you go into town. Good location in between Whitby/Scarborough.
