Blacksmiths Arms Inn

V easy to find in a tiny, pretty village. Greeted warmly. Room clean & q nicely decorated, my friend a&I had a twin room (room 4). Plenty parking (but car park badly lit). Loads of tea/coffee & toiletries & beds comfy (but squeaky). Shame you could only see the TV from 1 bed & there was only a bedside table & lamp next to that bed too. Loo VERY noisy to flush so we didn't at night, & the thing which kept the shower head up was broken, so it rested at chest height.
Though the hotel advertised wifi, we couldn't get it in our room & we wanted to google things to do the following day. My friend got a tiny bit of signal if she sat on the stairs. I got intermittent signal only if I sat in the bar downstairs- unfortunately, a member of staff whose name begins with T, was drunkenly screeching in there until late with her son, who looked about 13. I left after she told the Landlord at the top of her voice that she was going to urinate on his Sunday dinner in work the next day. We saw her at breakfast in the morning, seemingly v hungover. She was talking to the guests at the next table how terrible she felt & how drunk she was the night before. However, the breakfast was really nice & there was plenty of it! Didn't eat in the restaurant as seemed a little expensive, though same food at same prices available at a couple local pubs - not much choice locally unless you go into town. Good location in between Whitby/Scarborough.
