Bit Disappointing

Posted 19-Sep-2016
Cons: Food, staff friendliness, caring about the guests
Food poisoning and the staff didn't care! Just disappointing overall. Service was definitely not with a smile as we checked in with a sullen receptionist who didn't make eye comtact or smile. Service in the restaurant was ok to start with but after waiting for 15 minutes for our plates to be cleared, we gave up and went out to the bar. No-one asked how the meal was or was even bothered that we had left. After spending the night feeling the effects of the meal, I told the staff on check out that I had been ill and they were not in the slightest bit concerned - no enquiry as to whether I was ok. Very disappointing!

Gutes Hotel für Ausflüge in Yorkshire und York in

Posted 16-Sep-2016
Wir waren auf der Durchreise von York nach Newcastle und konnten uns durch die Lage des Hotel noch die Besichtigung der Fountain Abbey zeitlich leisten.

Quiet area - but near to where we needed.

Posted 14-Sep-2016
Pros: Friendly staff. Nice restaurant. Peaceful location, yet near to York.
Cons: We had a double room - but only one bedside table!
Location: We had a pre-booked trip to the Yorkshire Heart Vineyard. Visited Beningbrough Hall and Gardens. Lots of pretty villages nearby with nice pubs.
Car parking easy. Booking in easy and very friendly and helpful.

Nice outside, bad inside!

Posted 02-Sep-2016
We found this hotel in expedia, we decided to choose just because it's 20 minutes by car from york. The position of the hotel is very nice, I'm the middle of the trees. When we came in, we thought was very nice hotel. The problem was when we arrived in the room. The smell was horrible and the carpet was too old. We didn't really like the room. Of were booked ibis rooms, which were much better than this room. We also paid 7.50£ each for the breakfast. When the waitress invite us to take a sit, the table was dirty. We ate English breakfast but you can find continental breakfast too which was very poor. You can also drink a beer in the bar. The staff was very friendly and kind. We think that ibis hotel has better value for money than this hotel, where they need to change totally the rooms and bathroom.

Out of the way, but not to usual standards :-(

Posted 30-Aug-2016
Pros: Location
Cons: Clearer details regarding use of credit cards during reservation process, cleanliness and advising no mobile phone signal coverage in room.
Location: Countryside location, but close to York.
Issues at check-in (card used to reserve room was not accepted on the day so alternative payment needed to be found - this should have been made clear when reservation was made) meant stay did not start well. Room okay but not 100% spotless and no mobile phone signal coverage in room allocation to me...WiFi worked well though. No other hotel facilities used during stay.

Quiet and eat to park

Posted 24-Aug-2016
Bedsprings made the most awful noise when you moved so I didn't get much sleep. We were given an accessible room as we had asked for a walk in shower and this was the closest. However I still had to climb in and out of the bath which even with the hand rails is a slip hazard I prefer to avoid. We didn't try the food as the menu was quite limited and we don't eat much breakfast so it wouldn't have be worth the £20 on extra. Good location though.
