Nb: breakfast an extra £10/person and zip up beds

Posted 18-Apr-2016
What started as a reasonable price soon crept up when we incurred breakfast costs at 10pp/pn and also an extra £10 for a zip up bed for our son. Twin room very cramped with both beds effectively joined but with single duvets

plus side......no black mould round the bath. thats a rarity dining room staff and food excellent. rooms fresh and clean down side...no enough car parking...particularly for disabled. two spaces for 90 odd rooms isnt enough. toiletries and glasses not replenished over a three night stay.

Pros: The position and value for money
Cons: The plastic glasses for water need to be bigger and more substantial.
Location: We spent our time in York, visiting the Railway Museum.
The room was lovely and clean but the plumbing was noisy and needs updating. I was unable to have a bath and the shower fitting needed mending. Other residents were a bit noisy in the corridor but we didn't hear a thing once people were in their rooms. Parking was limited and people had parked behind us making it impossible to get out. Overall it was good value for money and the staff were very nice.

Uncomfortable beds, but good food

Posted 13-Mar-2016
The goad at the attached pub was top notch, and the cooked breakfast was good value. However, the bed was hard as a plank, and the pillows were like bags of potatoes.

Excellent value for money in lovely quiet setting

Posted 22-Feb-2016
Pros: I liked the country setting and the ample car parking. I felt safe and loved the peace and quiet.
Cons: PLEASE get some better quality pillows.
Location: It was convenient for me visiting family to the North West of York but it is worth noting that the hotel is about 8 miles from York City Centre
I enjoyed staying at Burn Hall Hotel, helped by very friendly staff. The bedroom was of a reasonable size and had everything I needed. I especially loved the generous sized bath towels! My only criticism would be that the pillows were of a thin, poor quality. I was given extra but no matter how many poor pillows you have, they are never comfortable. One decent 'bouncy' one is what is required. It is well worth ordering and paying for breakfast the previous evening as it saves money. If you go into Sunday breakfast at 9 am, be prepared for a long queue but the staff just worked quietly and efficiently to attend to everyone.
