"nice comfortable hotel near to the beach"
we have stayed at this hotel a few times now and always had a great stay. the rooms are basic so if you want a good deal close to all the amenity's then this a good base. if you want luxury then this is not for you. We have always found the staff very friendly and the rooms clean. One of the benefits of this hotel is you can ring up and book your car parking £6 per day and this reserves your space for your stay. Majority of other hotels dont have this benefit. we will most defiantly be visiting again.

"Lovely warm and comfy hotel overlooking the sea"
Beautiful sea views with beach. The ladies who work there are all lovely and completely helpful with anything even if you lose you room key which I did. I went a bit out of season but barely knew it because the rooms were kept so warm and cosy.Wish I had never left!

We loved our stay at the Bay House. Linda is a warm and welcoming host and the property is full of period detail and quirky charm. The box of chocolate fingers in our room was a welcome touch!

Riviera Town House

"Central location in Scarborough. Close to beach."
We only stayed one night. The staff helpfully stayed late since we were delayed on arrival. We had to pay for parking and then instead of scratching off the silver on the parking pass, we just circled the date in ink and got a parking ticket. We are appealing it. Nearby bar gets loud with drunks in late evening. Good restaurants with some that serve late. Lovely walk to the beach and nearby castle.

Very welcoming and friendly owner of the hotel. We had a double room that was clean and tidy, although not the biggest of rooms. Also a good traditional English breakfast, although cereals etc... We're also available. We would certainly visit again.

Pocket Guide: Beach Hotels in North Yorkshire

North Yorkshire is best known for its abundance of breath-taking natural beauty. Close to half of the land in the county is designated as National Parks, offering plenty of diversity for keen walkers and lovers of the great outdoors. What many people overlook, however, is the county's beautiful stretch of coastline on the North Sea. There are plenty of beach hotels in North Yorkshire, ideal for stealing away to catch some summer sun.

Soak Up the Sun in Scarborough

Scarborough is Yorkshire's largest seaside resort, welcoming in tons of visitors each year. The welcoming coastal town boasts everything you could want from a holiday resort. In addition to the pristine sandy beach, there's a well-kept harbour and a picturesque rocky headland. The town isn't starved of historical attractions, either. There's an 11th-century castle to visit, and some glorious Japanese landscaped gardens at Peasholm Park.

As you'd expect, Yorkshire's premier seaside resort is packed with exquisite beach hotels. The Clifton Hotel on Queens Parade is a pretty and traditional hotel which offers excellent rates all through the year. There's conference space for professional guests and babysitting services for travelling families. Free WiFi is also available throughout the hotel.

Scarborough also offers plenty of intimate guesthouses and B&Bs. The Sunnyside Guesthouse is a small and charming guesthouse, set just back from the sea and within a few minutes' walk of Peasholm Park. There's a pretty little garden and a delicious breakfast available each morning.

    Head to Historic Hartlepool

A little way north along the coast from Scarborough is the popular historic town of Hartlepool, which also offers some great beach hotels. Founded way back in the 7th Century, Hartlepool is packed with historical attractions and gorgeous period buildings. To the picturesque town wall to the HMS Trincomalee, an 1817 warship, there's plenty to see and do around this welcoming town.

The Staincliffe Hotel is a fine four-star hotel located right on the seafront, offering direct access to the beach. The location makes it a popular choice for weddings, with plenty of opportunity to get some memorable wedding snaps. There's also some good local food available in the hotel's restaurant.
