North Yorkshire is best known for its abundance of breath-taking natural beauty. Close to half of the land in the county is designated as National Parks, offering plenty of diversity for keen walkers and lovers of the great outdoors. What many people overlook, however, is the county's beautiful stretch of coastline on the North Sea. There are plenty of beach hotels in North Yorkshire, ideal for stealing away to catch some summer sun.
Scarborough is Yorkshire's largest seaside resort, welcoming in tons of visitors each year. The welcoming coastal town boasts everything you could want from a holiday resort. In addition to the pristine sandy beach, there's a well-kept harbour and a picturesque rocky headland. The town isn't starved of historical attractions, either. There's an 11th-century castle to visit, and some glorious Japanese landscaped gardens at Peasholm Park.
As you'd expect, Yorkshire's premier seaside resort is packed with exquisite beach hotels. The Clifton Hotel on Queens Parade is a pretty and traditional hotel which offers excellent rates all through the year. There's conference space for professional guests and babysitting services for travelling families. Free WiFi is also available throughout the hotel.
Scarborough also offers plenty of intimate guesthouses and B&Bs. The Sunnyside Guesthouse is a small and charming guesthouse, set just back from the sea and within a few minutes' walk of Peasholm Park. There's a pretty little garden and a delicious breakfast available each morning.
A little way north along the coast from Scarborough is the popular historic town of Hartlepool, which also offers some great beach hotels. Founded way back in the 7th Century, Hartlepool is packed with historical attractions and gorgeous period buildings. To the picturesque town wall to the HMS Trincomalee, an 1817 warship, there's plenty to see and do around this welcoming town.
The Staincliffe Hotel is a fine four-star hotel located right on the seafront, offering direct access to the beach. The location makes it a popular choice for weddings, with plenty of opportunity to get some memorable wedding snaps. There's also some good local food available in the hotel's restaurant.
