Nice hotel set in a pastoral setting

Posted 02-Aug-2016
Pros: Clean,comfortable,relaxed setting
Cons: Step up in food or expect just ok
Location: In the country, close to Caernafon and Bangor
Stayed two nights and ate at the hotel. The Manor show signs of its former class, it is however wearing down.We enjoyed the quiet clean rooms and comfortable bed.It was not busy so staff seemed to be at a minimum.Suppers were ok although I thought they would be a notch above instead of just ok.Breakfast variety was good along with menu ordering but again eggs Benedict should be great not just ok.Good spot if you can get a reduced rate booking.

Pros: the staff were delightful, rooms clean and spacious. Breakfast perfect with a good choice and well cooked.
Cons: nothing to say
Location: beautiful spot in remote Wales. We were only there for one night so did not visit anywhere. We hope to return for another visit.
we were looked after extremely well on our short stay. we wished we could have stayed longer.

My husband and I stayed here for four nights after our wedding and were very pleased with the experience. The room we had was great, we ate in the bar for two nights and had room service on a third. The hotel is in a really good location, 10 minute drive to the Snowdon Railway, or 15 minutes in the other direction to Caernarfon which is a lovely town with the castle. We would definitely stay again.

Very warming homely hotel.

Posted 22-Apr-2016
Pros: The location, the comfort, the breakfasts are fantastic.
Cons: Very difficult to point a finger at where it could be improved.
Location: The location is well situated for exploring the National Park, Castles, Stately homes and sea side towns.
This hotel is an excellent place to stay, the staff are very friendly and helpful. Myself and my wife enjoyed our stay and it felt a little sad when we left.

Relaxing break

We stayed here for a nice relaxing break. We've stayed here before and liked the welcome, the size of the rooms and the lovely breakfast. There may be cheaper hotels but this is definitely worth paying a little extra for.

Compared to a stay here many years ago, the hotel is looking a little tired. However this did not detract from a very pleasant stay and was more than made up for by the friendly and helpful staff throughout the hotel.

Faded glory

Unfortunately this hotel has the air of neglect about it. Some of the furnishings were shabby and in need of replacement. The hotel staff were very pleasant and helpful although they did forget our breakfast request for room service.

Great level of hospitality!

Posted 09-Feb-2016
Pros: This is one of the best hotels we have stayed at in the UK in a long time. Staff were very friendly and professional. Great level of hospitality.
Cons: Fresher paint on the walls, unless they want it to look like "shabby chic"...
Location: Great location to go to Bangor and discover Snowdonia. Great for outdoor activities.
We warned we would check in late i.e. around midnight. We received very warm, smiley and professional welcome as if we had arrived at old friends' house. Each bedroom is apparently named after a Welsh castle, which is a good idea. Although the hotel looks massive, it still felt nicely warm and cosy wherever we were. Impressive heating system obviously! Very good wi-fi connection in all parts and bedroom. The room was large with a great king size bed, with very nice bed linen. Shame that a couple of pillow cases had a few subtle black stains (possibly hard to remove but these should not been put on the pillow). Otherwise quality of bed linen, towels and bathrobes was impeccable. Our room had a small balcony view onto the river was a real delight, the bathroom was massive and very well equipped. Food served at breakfast was delicious, cooked fresh and generously served. We did not have time to enjoy the indoor swimming pool, but it looked amazing and was apparently very popular. We shall definitely return!! Our experience in North Wales (even if only 2 days) felt like a mini holiday.
