Llangollen International Musical Eiesteddfod

Posted 13-Jul-2016
We were there for the Llangollen International Musical Eiesteddfod, which was held on 5th July to 9th July. As most hotels in Llangollen were fully booked by mid April, we found Ramada Plaza Wrexham, which proved to be a good choice. It is a modern hotel about 20 to 25 minutes away from Llangollen, fully equipped with WiFi, safe deposit box, hair dryer, water boiler, toileteries, iron & ironing board. With GPS, it is easy to drive to Llangollen. Carpark is free at the hotel. It served good buffet breakfast and has a decent room service menu, ranging from soup, fries, sandwich, ribs to even chinese wrap with roast duck (taste a bit like Peking Duck wrap). Its staff are very friendly and put in their best effort to keep you comfortable. They also made a few recommendations for us to visit. The weather is very good throughout my stay with beautiful sunshine everyday, temperature is 19'C to 20'C during the day. But it can go down to 13'C to 14'C during the night. If you have young children, it is worthwhile to visit ParkHall Farm which is about 20minutes away. The children can hold small animals like rabbits and guinea pigs on their lap and touch them, they can feed goats and lambs, watch a pig race and sit on a little "train" pulled by a farm truck. If you are at Llangollen, the boat ride drawn by horse at the Llangollen Wharf is nice too. You will get to see the lovely cottages, scenery and the entireLlangollen International Musical Eiesteddfod Pavilion site along the river

Saturday night stop over.

Posted 04-Jul-2016
Pros: Clean, modern and very quiet on the 3rd floor
Cons: Bar staff were a bit stretched after the stadium event (10pm- midnight) but this would have applied to every bar in Wrexham
Location: Convienient for the local university/stadium
Hotel very busy (Stereophonics performing at local stadium) but staff coped really well. arrived early and were able to check in straight away (11:30)

Can't complain.

Fantastic hotel, spacious rooms, clean bathroom and with a small shopping outlet close by, it was very convenient. Shame the jacuzzi wasn't working and the gym facilities are very basic. But would highly recommend it.

Pleasant stay

Overall the hotel was great and the cost very competitive. Our six year old stayed for free. Food (room service) was cheaper than expected! On the negative, they should put a sofa or one more decent chair in the room. Also free wifi (which I didn't get) should come as standard in this day and age.
