Such a Shame... Massively mismanaged
Such a shame, incredible grounds but massively let down by the service. As someone who travels extensively, most of which in premium establishments - this was one of the most disappointing stays I have had (Room, Afternoon Tea & Spa) - The greeting was inappropriate, only ever acknowledging me, never my fiancée (as if she wasn't there) - The room was very very tired. I totally understand the constraints with the National Trust / listed building. However the room was very tired, extension cables around, alarm clock from the 70s. The cherry on top was at very high cost for a double bed - this ended up being two mattresses pushed together, absolutely no excuse for this - We ordered afternoon tea, after sitting there for 20+ minutes I had to go to hotel reception to seek someone out to take our tea order. This was very surprising considering there was total 6 customers total there at the time. After this it was simply "which tea?" - service was very poor for this. - We eat there for dinner. I ordered lamb and was asked how I want it cooked, I then said rare please - pink. However, I was given some of the most overcooked lamb I have ever eaten (see pic) it was then begrudgingly changed. Restaurant manager was very rude with this. - For breakfast we were sat next to multiple dead flies. Rather than apologies from the restaurant manager we were told "this is simply nature". I would expect this at Wetherspoons, not for £30pp - They charged us twice (rectified after complaint)

Wonderful. Beautiful gardens, gorgeous country house, friendly staff. We stayed in cottages in the grounds…the best of both worlds. Hotel with all the amenities and the privacy of a cottage.

The hotel was lovely, very country house look & feel. The cottage we stayed in had open oak beams as had originally been a barn. The room was spacious but the decor was abit tired & could benefit from a re-furb eg new wallpaper. The bathroom & kitchenette were also abit dated, but everything was very clean & well equiped with good quality towels, bath robes etc

Fantastic gardens
Amazing building with fantastic gardens, only a short drive from Llandudno, Conwy and Snowdonia, so an excellent comfortable base for exploring the area. Good food in the restaurant too. Also has a very pleasant pool and a small but not busy gym.

The hotel has character and the most beautiful gardens. The staff and service are excellent and the restaurant serves delicious food. Gorgeous, quirky accommodation but it could just do with a bit more of a thorough clean to try and avoid extra guests (spiders). Overall, we would definitely recommend this hotel.

We had a wonderful time at the Bodysgallen Hall with incredible service and wonderful facilities. I would recommend it highly. The only down side was the size of the dinner menu. We were at the Hall four days and were loathe to repeat some of the dishes since we enjoy variety. If the Hall were to have a different special each day, it would help. Otherwise, the food was good.

Idyllic country retreat with outstanding service
I have just returned from an overnight stay at this wonderful hotel - it was a truly utopian experience! From the first moment that I arrived the service was outstanding and the staff really take time to get to know you and make your stay special. This is a beautiful, historic house where you can escape the cares of the world and almost step back in time. Not once did I see any guest walking around with a mobile phone in the public areas and everyone respected the peaceful and quiet atmosphere of the hotel. The public rooms such as the library and drawing room are kept in their original state so you can sink into a plush sofa in front of a roaring wood fire surrounded by history. I particularly enjoyed my afternoon tea which was served privately to me outside my room on the first floor in a delightful alcove area. I had two wonderful treatments at the spa which is also an oasis of peace and calm. My room was perfect and very spacious with views over the surrounding countryside. Guests should definitely take a walk around the grounds and beautifully landscaped gardens. On my last day I just didn't want to leave and will definitely be returning for a longer stay next time.

NEW COTTAGE - with my dog
I loved the whole experience - especially given I could have my dog stay with me in one of your cottages. My only complaint was my breakfast - very disappointing. - bacon and blood pudding very dry and tasted as if it had been cooked for a while. I had meant to write about this on your cards left in cottage - but ran out of time. I would definitely stay again, but probably have the continental breakfast. Glo Williams

It is an elegant old estate, but that said, there was no heat in our cottage so they brought space heaters in. And some electrical plugs did not work. But estate is 300 yrs old, so must give it a break, bc its charmingly elegant

Homely yet stately. A good balance!
Bodysgallen is superbly situated on its own hill. This does by necessity entail some up and downhill activity when using the site, eg visiting the spa - but that’s just part of the charm. I was on the second floor in the main house and had a charming room with views on 2 sides. There were great touches such as fresh shortbread in a tin by the bed! Service was accommodating, and I never had to sign for anything. Very much in the country house mode of a guest. A fine stay. I recommend their picnic to liven the trip home - a spot of bara brith made me smile as I chomped it on the train home.

Beautiful! make sure you get there in time to walk the expansive gardens. Though the rooms were a bit dated, they had the best towels we have used in a long time! Lots of character throughout the grounds and multiple buildings. Excellent 3 course dinner.

PLace to stay in North Wales
Beautiful setting, wonderful surrounding gardens, great restauarnt. We stayed in Smithy cottage which was very roomy and also had a separate sitting area. The only issue was a long walk uphill to the hotel itself. Tough on my wife with a bad knee.

A Wonderful Hotel near Llandudno & Conwy
A wonderful place, great for visiting anywhere in North Wales. Fantastic cuisine - but for the "tight wads" quality should and does cost a bob or two. Really lovely gardens & very good spa which we thought were undersold. Slight - very slight observations to improve better. 1. Restaurant too quiet which leads to too much reverence & "Sunday Best" conversation & behaviour. (We're not advocating Heavy Metal Radio 2 or an incessant tape loop. Something discreet. 2. "Upsell" the garden and the excellent spa. 3. Hotel Manager - tell the staff how wonderful they are. Because they are & you don't need this survey to tell them. In short: a great place, not for the pennypinchers but with a soupcon of lightening up could be absolute heaven for the rest of us.

Stately Barn Room trying to be Downton Abbey.
Room is in a stone barn.. One problem, the wifi quit on second day of stay. Had to go to main house to get mail. My husband and I got lost on first day in the woods beyond the garden. Had hard time finding way back. Map given was just too small and the dark was coming in. Otherwise food., staff, and room fantastic.

Garden Castle In The Forest
Bodysgallen Hotel and Spa was our Llandudno and Conwy haven for 3 days and nights. After spending 3 nights in a tiny, boutique hotel in the business district of London, Bodysgallen felt like coming home! The staff was so welcoming and helpful without being obtrusive. Our cottage over what may once have been a livery was beautiful, spacious and COZY! We loved being private and secluded outside the main house, and we made daily use of our living area and kitchen. It was just like having our own little home for a few days! The grounds of Bodysgallen are incredible! Walking the formal garden with terraces, croquet lawn, secret gates, water well and countryside views made us feel we were in a fairy tale picture book! The castle style "manor" is cocooned in a gorgeous forest, peppered with sheep pastures. The only downside to this seclusion is that its a taxi ride everywhere outside, and it gets expensive coming and going multiple times a day. We toured the gorgeous, calming spa with full tea room/bar, indoor pool, sauna and steam room. It made me anxious to take advantage of this haven, but there was too much to see and do in our short 3 days. Bodysgallen needs 5 days to a week to be fully appreciated, and we hope to go back someday! We had dinner in the dining room our first night, and while it wasn't our type of fare for the price, it was a very enjoyable experience! Both of us tried dishes we've not had before, and the setting was unforgettable. What a very special place!

Relaxing break for a few days.
Our 4th visit, 3rd in a cottage. Our cottage was listed as a 'superior cottage' in Expedia terms, but each is different. We stayed in 'Baliff's house', with a downstairs lounge, separate kitchen with sink/kettle/fridge, upstairs to a large king bedroom with adjoining bath/shower room. There's a semi private garden just outside. The hall itself is set in extensive and beautiful grounds, several hundred metres from the A470, so access is good and noise it minimal. Ample parking, including areas very close to the cottages. There's a spa (think girly stuff) but it has a great pool and is generally empty so you can have a proper splash around. The main house is as you'd expect. Lots of nooks and crannies and 'high tea' or booze can be served anywhere. The dining room is smallish (I think about a dozen tables) but well presented, excellent service and very find dining in the evening. Staff very friendly and welcoming. The grounds/gardens are really impressive. Check out pics on the web and satellite imagery to give a sense of scale. Big enough to get a decent about of exercise! Love the place. As I say, it's our 4th visit, and it won't be our last.
