"When we were there (June 2025) reception opened at 1600 and was off-site. You had to phone a number to get a key safe code to obtain your room key. When phoning, you hear a recorded message in German. Sadly, we could not understand the message so had to rely on the restaurant staff (who were on site) to help us connect to reception. German speakers would have no problem but non-Germans may have a problem. Another issue we had is that the hotel states it has an EV charging point - it does not! However, there is an ultra fast charger about 500m away next to Aldi. So, if you're hoping to charge overnight whilst sleeping, it's not possible. Once we obtained access all was well. The staff were great, the room was clean and the bathroom was spotless. There is a very good restaurant within the hotel building and the food is excellent. In the morning, breakfast offerings include continental and cooked. Again, excellent quality. All in all, we found this to be a very nice hotel with very helpful staff (once we'd battled the language barrier to actually get in!)"

"Just back from a visit to Idar-Oberstein. Parking was easy, I arrived after 10pm so reception was closed but a staff member was able to quickly get me checked in. Room was perfect for my stay. Hotel is close to the Felsenkirche and castles. The Norma shop is 2 minutes walk away and there are several places to eat in the square."

"Great location, spacious room, comfortable beds, very nice restaurant on premises, and a wonderful breakfast buffet. Overall a very pleasant experience. Important - if you're driving, the am Frucktmarkt address will only get you close due to pedestrian only zones. There is a parking garage in back (with a different address) that has direct access to the hotel - call ahead and get that street address and save yourself a walk."

"Lovely place to stay and relax, great pool and sauna facilities. Nice restaurant and bar and easy parking. Nothing else around except a separate Italian restaurant which was basic but served fab food at good prices - a nice alternative to the hotel’s own restaurant. Safe and easy parking."

"Horses for courses really. Very highly rated by others - walkers and wine buffs, perhaps - but it wasn’t for us. The building is very attractive; the proprietor was very pleasant; the breakfast was good. The room was spacious & clean but badly thought out - e.g. amongst other things, power sockets for the bedside were behind the bed and inaccessible, the loo was situated below a very low, sharp point of the ceiling, the curtains served no purpose at all. We didn’t manage to get wi-fi at all in our room, which was inconvenient. I should have looked more carefully at details on the website, so the next problems are down to me. I didn’t expect it to be so near the road - it was hot & stuffy on the 2nd floor and noisy with the window open (no air con). I hadn’t taken on board either that there wasn’t a lift (so suitcases had to be carried up to the 2nd floor) or that there wasn’t a bar or guest lounge. I’m mentioning these points now purely to flag them up to prospective guests. I realise they might not be important to others."
