In a peaceful country location even though on a main road. Just a short walk to a bus stop for both directions. Close access to Kanmangafuchi Abyss for a pleasant walk.

Charming hotel
Its a quaint hotel, a little out of the way of downtown Nikko but well worth it - if you have a Nikko World Heritage Pass, you can take a bus for free about 300 meters from the entrance. The staff is great, and they have their own outdoor hot spring bath, which gives it a unique charm. The only downside is that the pillows are not very soft, even by Japan standards. Could use a replacement. Its a bit dated, but for a small town hotel, it should be expected and is part of the local charm.

Great place for an overnight getaway from Tokyo
This place is a good hotel off the beaten path. It is close to the Nikko Toshogu shrine but far enough away to avoid the crowds. A short Bus ride from the station in Nikko and the shrines. About a 40 min bus ride to Kegon falls. There is a restaurant that does breakfast and dinner with a reservation. The property includes an identical bath. Plenty of parking if you drive.

Good location. Nice staff. Great breakfast. Property is a little dated, needs some renovation. For 1 or 2 nights I think it’s a reasonable option

Location is just too far from anything. The beds are possibly the worst I’ve ever slept on, so hard I checked to see if it was an actual mattress and not just a box spring. Staff was friendly and food was good.

The hotel quite nice, easy access from JR Nikko. We can sleep comfortable during our stay. The only little things there is no restaurant near by, you need to go to downtown for food but overall happy to stay there.

I found this place to be adequate. Note that it's an hour walk to the town center but there's a bus stop less than a block away. (And buses run on schedule.)

The room that we stayed on the third floor had a noisy air conditioner, so we couldnt sleep well at night. It was hard to beleive that they were still using that without replacing it. The shower was terrible - broken shower doors and ugly showerhead. I understand this is an old hotel, but not doing maintenance on these basic facilities is disappointing.

Good location
Reception was informative about hotel but not very friendly which we have unusual in Japan. Room was just ok. Dated and not great beds but did the trick for one night. Location was great. Very close to many of the historic temples and houses. Easy walk to village.

It looked like a family-run business, quite old but charming. Good amenities. It had a small semi-outdoor bath. The owner was kind and helpful. Nothing much to say about the location as it sat mid way - not very convenient for travelers without a car.

did not notice when booking that the room comes with vegetarian meal option. Ended up paying $100 more for dinner just to have two toufu as main course. What an expensive meal. Not possible to change either as chef already prepared meal even though we checked in hours in advance. It requires precise detail about when you're having dinner, breakfast and when you collect your lugguage. Horrible experience. Will never book this hotel again.

Hotel Natural Garden was a little bit away from the downtown area in Nikko, but was not far from the lake and Kegon Falls. The staff was quite nice and the rooms were well kept. Onsen outside was small, but beautiful!

The hotel locates quite far from the Nikko station; not in walking distance. However, you can easily take a bus as the bus stop is only a few walks from the hotel. The hotel is not new but in good condition and very clean. The hotel provides everything you need e.g. amenities, complimentary tea and drinking water at lobby. Eventhough how they operate the hotel is conservative, I felt to the good hospitality and service mind of all staff. This hotel surrounding is serene and relaxing.

Hotel was god value for Nikko. Room and style was typical Japanese retro (dated, compact, functional), but fairly clean. 15-20mins walk from shrines, 50mins walk from main stations. We arrived at hotel at about 8pm, and were told we couldn't eat in restaurant as we hadn't pre-booked. There are no restaurants open in the evening in the area (after the shrines close in Nikko, the area seems to be dead). They suggested we get some food/snacks from the Lawsons convenience store (15mins walk away), weren't impressed by that. But we were hungry so had no other choice. So either pre-book dinner, or eat near the stations.

Nice, cheap hotel for Nikko
This was a very nice hotel, close to the temples at Nikko. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Had a nice but small indoor/outdoor onset. Rooms were a bit old and tired. Beds were very hard.

The hotel is within walking distance of the temples and town. It is on the bus line for sightseeing in the national park. It also has a lovely onsen and was just perfect for seeing Nikko.

Natural garden hotel
The hotel was about 1500 yens taxi fare from tobu nikko station ( 2300 yens with traffic jam ) or stop 12 nikko shokubutuen on tobu bus 2 day ticket direction chenzuji onsen ( recommend only traveller without large luggage because the bus door was very narrow and no place for luggages ). The room price plus round trip taxi fare was cheap compare to what we got. There were only 40 rooms so I wondered how the owner made benefit . There were outdoor and indoor onsen . Cafe house next to the hotel ran by two sisters was very beautiful inside. Traveling from this hotel was very easy but only when you had the bus time schedule in hand ( don't forget when you buy 2 day bus pass ). The bus stop was exactly in front of the hotel. The botanic garden ( 400 yens closed on Monday ) was just cross the road from the hotel . The temples and shrines were 20 minutes walk ( but 1 hour for us because my wife always stopped for a shoot with words " beautiful "). This hotel was good for traveller looking for nice trip , nice onsen and nice stay, not for alcohol lovers.

Overall stay was pleasant, stayed in this hotel for 1 night and its convenient by bus (bus stop no 12) and its slightly out of town. It was a starting point to shrines and temples heading towards town.
